In some service manuals they are called gaskets and in other manuals they are call crush washers. Typically used on drain plug bolts and on shaft drive final drive drain plugs. Anyone know where to buy them other than a Yamaha dealer? <_< Auto Zone and NAPA do not carry them. I am in the Dallas area. Any help?

Go back to NAPA with a sample and get some copper washers (like the kind on brake line fittings). They're re-usable as well.

Using crush washers is not that important. As long as no oil leaks out everything's fine. I use/reuse a flat aluminum? Honda washer. I don't think it's copper -- it's very light and has a silver color.

Those bolts don't need to be very tight -- just tight enough to stay put and not leak oil. I use a short 3/8" ratchet when tightening these bolts. I tighten the bolts, ride a bit, and then verify no leakage & bolt tightness a day or two later.

Honda washers work perfectly. I've been using them forever.

Made of alumium, crush a little when tightned.

They have a flat side and a rounded side. Round side goes up on drainplug.

I work for Honda dealer, Autos. Can't beat the price. FREE

NAPA also sells some one-time use 13 mm blue plastic crush washers that in a pinch will work just fine too.

Exactly! I bought 30 of them from here...

MUCH better than those recycled spark plug washers Yamaha's panning off as drain plug washers.

My local NAPA counter was very happy to match the OEM size with their copper washers. Forget the price but was cheap enough.

I had a 88' Goldwing with 92,000 miles on it. I never changed out the crush washers and never had a oil leak

I had a 98" R1200C BMW with 74,000 miles on it. I never changed out the crush washers and never had a oil leak

I have a 05" FJR with 51,800 miles on it. I never changed out the crush washers and never had a oil leak

when I change oil I clean the crush washer and the bolt and the hole the go into and I do NOT over tighten the bolt.

the FJR is my 10th bike and I have been riding for almost 30 years and have never changed out a crush washer and I always change my own oil.

On Fred Harmon's Goldwing DVD's, he uses a propane torch to anneal the Honda washer. I tried it on my X-Wing and it worked well.

Hey, just realized I'm now a pilot! Y'all better duck!
