I rode with my friend Ovis down to Chatsworth GA to look at a junkyard for motorcycles he had heard about, it turned out to be a motorcycle mechanic that found good deals on bikes and kept them in his back yard and garage. The most impressive one was an old Indian Chief in running condition. The guy would sell pieces of the bikes but it was like asking for his first born, he liked keeping them around. He had I would guess over 200 frames of motorcycles with motors and parts scattered all in his back yard and garage. I saw old Triumphs, BSA, from the 60's just sitting there on a raised platform. :dribble:
After lunch we rode over Fort Mountain, stopped at Mercier's for fried apple pie and then headed home.
My friend Ovis,
We used to have the same bike till I bought my FJR.
Top of Fort Mountain GA.
It was a hot 90 degree hazy day that day.
Next day I rode with my other friends, Karl and Larry and we rode up Hwy 68 from Ducktown TN to Tellico Plains, over the Cherohala Skyway, and then down Wayah Road.
Hwy 68 goes through the Smoky Mountains and has a variety of both sweepers and S-curves. The Chrohala is almost all sweepers along the top of both the Cherokee and Nantahala forests. Wayah roads has the sweepers, s-curves and switch backs as well, by the end of the day I was exhausted and had 100 miles to ride back home, thankfully it was on four lane highways to get back home.
Here we are at the end of the Chrerohala, Larry's very fast 919, Karl's go anywhere BMW 1150, and my FJR:
Here I am at the end of Wayah road resting for our ride back home, we all had about a 100 mile ride to get back home from here.
