Anyone do this to increase performance?

I'm not concerned with "how" it's done. I can handle that, but is it worth it for power gains?

Since Ignacio seems busy, I was able to find this for him.

Abstract: Section 203(a) of the Clean Air Act (Act), 42 U.S.C.

7522(a), prohibits removing or rendering inoperative automobile

emission control devices or elements of design and prohibits the sale

or installation of any device that bypasses or renders inoperative

emission control elements of design.

thx for playing

Next!

:p

I know of only a handful of folks who have cut their catalytic converters out of their stock exhaust system, and IIRC, none said it made all that big a difference with regard to any power gains.

I can't think of a better reason to rip out the catalyst. :****: EPA :******: 's

Of course "For off-road use only" there is this: https://www.holeshot.com/

Actually, I've already been here and did the only thing I felt appropriate....move this thread to it's new home.

I leave people to their own delusions that whacking cats liberates horespower that Feds are conspiring to hide from them.

How about reducing heat? I'd gladly whack the thing off to cut a few degrees off the roaster! I'm wondering if maybe that's why the Holeshot's seem to be cooler ... beyond the ceramic coating anyway?

Not much gain in hp's with the Holeshot full system, dyno told me about 7 total, but the sound is cool and without the cats in the header it is cooler around the legs expecially in slow traffic. Doesn't eliminate the heat totally but the difference can be felt. If you are going to do it for the hp gains don't bother.

sure it helps - the exhaust is louder so of course it makes more power -same as Harley loud pipes = big power..
Well, that line of reasoning may take things (a bit) "off topic"? King wanted to know about horsepower gains (I think?). But....how 'bout them diesel pickups? Or, pickups in general -- w/2-pipe exhaust? One of the differences between third world countries and more "civilzed" states is the level of noise from their vehicle exhaust. Which way is America going -- Bubba?
