Well, about the only thing that is not damaged is the upper right fairing....

All the other plastic is done... headlights, windsheild, corbin seat, both cans... done....

I rode it, and it rides o.k. other than the steering handle bars being off centered. That will likely be fixed by centering the forks in the tripple trees.

I know what needs to be done to fix this bike now, and it is just not worth it.

How much do you guys think I could get if I sold it as is? Do you think I'd get more if I part it out? Do dealers sometimes buy wrecked bikes to part them out or possibly repair?

2004 10,600 miles ABS

Sara's knee is healing well, she still can't walk on it yet, but swelling is way down, road rash healing up quickly.

If you have the time, I would part it out.

Hope all the wounds; physical, emotional, and financial heal completely and quickly.

Well, I know you have already paid to fix her once, where did you get the plastic?

I got mine from Mike at university and their prices were rough just over 50% of stealer prices.

So did you only have liability on your bike?

Another option is to go to the little cycle shop, next to the subway on preston north of durrett lane, it will be on your left, maybe they would buy it from you or at least give you a price as it looks like they buy used bikes and repair then sell.

But i guess it would depend on what it would cost you to repair it, do you want to is the real question, if that is the case, i have stock cans you can use or buy cheap and two lower 05 fairings that could be okay to have some plastic on it.

i guess you would just have to see, maybe others on the forum have some scratched up parts/plastic they could donate or part with cheap.

You could probably get more than I could afford to offer you. I've got this sick twisted side of me that would love to take a wrecked bike that than and fix it up over a year or two. Unfortunately I don't know if I could even muster up $2k for a project bike right now. :(

If your going to sell the bike as is, I say stick that bad boy on ebay.

Strip it down and make a XJR1300 look-a-like outta it. Otherwise, I'd part it out if you don't want to re-re-invest in new parts. Course, you could also just shop ebay for parts on the cheap.

Strip it down. Make a 'nekked' feej.

How bad is the seat? Can you maybe make a cover?

If you decide to repair - I have a stock 03 windshield you can have. :)

It just may end up a naked fjr! Parts from ebay usually cost just as much if not more than parts from U-motors.

The seat would be fine with a cover, really it would be fine without a cover, it's scratched up, with a 2 inch rip in the leather on the side. At this point

I'm not going for good looks....

After I figure out if the front forks are o.k., i'll decide if I'm going to keep it or scrap it.

If I keep it I will definately request to change my name to "FuglyFJR" or "El Presidente" :D

Thanks, but I still have my stock sheild so I won't need it.

Appreciate it anyway.

If you decide to fix and ride, send me your seat while you are 'a-fixin' and I will try to make a cover for it. (ifins you want)

I am no professional, but the price will be according. (free)

There are guys that buy bikes to part them out. Bike wrecking yards that sell parts will also buy the bike as well. You generally wont get much for them if they have been banged around much. An $11,000 bike might bring $4,000-5000 if you are real lucky and find someone interested in it (dont ask me now I know this).

Takes lots of pictures of it and start posting them around. You should get some leads.

Could be time to make a reverse trike and show Polaris how it was supposed to run... ;)

The motor/tranny would make for a really wicked go-kart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know that there is a car racing format (a client is a driver) that typically uses Busa engines from wrecked bikes as the most common power plant. While I don't recall the designation, his fellow driver buddy was telling me a few months ago (before racing at Infineon the next weekend) that the engine mods are typically for mid range torque. Seems like the FJR engine and tranny *might* be a worthy platform of interest to someone doing that.
