...except for the valve clearances on this motor staying in spec. :p Just had the 53.2k check done today. Friggin' valve clearances are smackety-damn-dabety right in the middle of their ranges, just like the 26.6k check. Man, I just hate it when I can't ***** about this bike.

Here's to the next 26.6k :good:

mine was perfect at 27k... that is total BS... can you say class action?

how dare yammi turn out a 'bullet proof' motor in this day and age...

I would sell that piece of **** and buy yourself a reliable Honda....

I too just got done with a valve job (my first at just over 50K). Only one was slightly tight (less than .001 out of spec). Love this bike.

:yahoo:

I don't plan on ever checking mine if they're that stable.
HIS might be that stable. MOST might be that stable. But ALL are not that stable.

Ping vectervp1 about his first valve check which he did late and in which they found two tight valves.

First, it's regulary scheduled maintenace - why anyone would skip it is beyond me. Second, it's called a 'check'.

A damned expensive check, but a check nonetheless.
Yeah, I think I'm gonna start prescribing an extra "Breast and OB/GYN Check" for all single females between 22 and 50 under 200 pounds. All checks should be performed by a Registered Pervert at least once a year and will cost the "owner" $250 for shop labor and consumables (latex gloves, latex probe covering device, paper exam bed, er, table cover...)

Summary: If the shops can get away with prescribing a marginally-worthless and expensive f*ck-over, why can't I get in on the act?

Ditto on that. My 97 CBR1100XX was never out of spec and it's got 34k on it now. I can only hope my new FJR is that reliable.

I had 2 tight, 1 at tight limit. One can decide to forgo the 26k check, but one risks mucho dinero in the process. Yami will not warranty a motor in which a problem developed due to ignored maintenance.

Eh, I'll roll the dice.

There's tight as in out of spec tight, and then there's dangerously tight as in zero clearance when the exhaust's start burning, I'll bet that's damn near 100K if even then.

Since this is my pleasure bike, that's gonna be quite a while.
