This is my first ride report and I, out of respect for forum etiquette, should have waited until Friday to post this. Since I have never done this I will only post a couple pics.

Feb 27, 2010; opening day for DamTour 2010. For those unfamiliar with the tour it involves riding to 20 dams in the Pacific NW between March and Sept. There are new dams every year. You get eight dams in WA, eight in OR, and four bonus dams in the Pacific NW. For me it is a grand excuse for a ride; a pre-selected destination, find it if you can.

Starting this year with two dams, naturally the two closest to home. The route was from Puyallup to the Cowlitz Falls Dam, just southwest of Randle. Then w/b on Hwy 12 to just east of Aberdeen for the Aberdeen Lake Dam. A quick blast, a couple pics, then home.

Google maps showed 251 miles, 6 hrs 12 minutes. Zoom in to double check, because Google maps and reality are not always the same, some minor changes, print, print, print, and I’am off!

It was an uneventful ride and I was almost to the first dam; I came around the last corner in a series of nice twisties and was charged by a German Sheppard. Worse than a forest rat, at least they don't usually charge. Dam dog came straight at me! Rabid and ravenous and thinking I was a Yama-chew toy. I had heard somewhere the bikes are mostly faster than dogs and since I wasn't on a Harley I waited until he got close then accelerated past him...worked like a charm! (Sorry no pic of the dam dog).

First dam, made it.

Enroute to the second dam it started to cloud up rather nicely so I stopped at I-5/Hwy 12 and put on my rubber trousers’ (Jeremy Clarkson). The weather report said brief rain in the afternoon. Brief rain in the weather studio is more like pissin down when you are on I-5 at 70+mph. Rain gear = warm and dry!!

Found the second dam w/no problems.

Got my pics and blasted home. Nice little ride and a good start to the season. Sorry, no dam pie.

Sorry, screwed up the dam size on some of those.
