Oh, yeah? Well I sent one too. And mine was better! (It had nude picies of me) Top that, fence-dude.
I could touch that with my 10 foot "pole". But, I ain't gonna
Count me in dudes. Done the 29 dreams/hwy 25 thing, would like to do the Mnt. Cheaha thing. Thinkin' the Bell's Palsy will be cleared up by then.

BTW - I did hwy 25 just a couple of weeks ago . . the surface really needs repaving, and the cages are positively Alabama crazy. 29 dreams requires a membership (we couldn't get a beer), but I think the fee is nominal . . musta got sued.

So from PMs and replies to this thread, it looks like the group of interested parties so far includes...

Quite a crowd. I'm up for whatever rides the locals think would be best... and would probably be bringing along the guy I'm riding up with (who is on an 1150RT).

Something Friday, maybe afternoon? Or would that make after-work traffic a problem?

I'm going to be staying at what used to be the Hampton Inn in east Irondale. I think they're not associated with the Hampton Inn starting this month, so I'm not sure what it's called now.

Like I mentioned in my PM, I'm only good for Friday afternoon, my wife's birthday is that week-end. Friday afternoon isn't too bad if we stay away from the metro areas. I get off on Friday's at 11:00, so we could meet up after that for a lunch and ride if you'd like.

Friday afternoon? What about the rest of the weekend, eh? I could sneak out early on a friday and would also be available anytime during the weekend. Ya'll gonna sit on your keesters the rest of the time?

I can make Friday afternoon work. I have a client in B'ham that I should go see which means this is a business trip!! ;)

Based on this post, I ashcanned Scab's PM before reading... shudder....
Just so you know, that was a BIG mistake, buck-o. I'll have you know I look quite becoming in my assless chaps and do a very good cover of YMCA.

I think most of Saturday we're going to watch the racing. Sunday is for the long trek back to Houston.

Sorry Groo.........I'm headed to the Dragon 10/14-10/17.........w/forum member bristercl and a couple other buds. Normally I would hook up since I will be so close as I will zip right by the I20/I459 interchange on the way back on the 17th and that is only about 2-3 miles from Barbers. I have no way of knowing what time we will be getting to that area on the 17th and I will have a couple buds with me and I think we will all need to get back home........work and all that sh*t. The 17th is my last day of a weeks vacation and I must be back at work on the 18th. I know you guys will have a great time. There is a membership fee at 29 dreams but it is only a couple bucks and you'll like to twisty ride there........it's just to short, but beware the last time I rode it the blacktop was in desperate need of re-surfacing lots of washboarding in the curves due to steep elevations and sharp cornering heavy weight of trucks, etc. Cheaha is a beautiful place and I have repelled those cliffs many times as a wee lad when I lived in Alabama.

If by chance you plan to ride through Jackson, MS on the way back, shoot me a pm and I'll try to meet you and buy you a cup of Java. I suspect however that your route back will be by way of New Orleans--I20 to I59 to I10...but the offer stands just in case.

Edit: I just re-read your post, I was thinking you were arriving there on the 17...I see it is not until the 19th

You guys have fun and ride safe.......to many get off's being posted on this forum lately, don't want to read about another any time soon.

On another note I saw a 05 FJR in Meridian MS yesterday.......do we have any Meridian forum members?

I was all out of anti-nausea medicine, and didn't want to yack in my workspace... my bad.

uh.....................Groo you better be careful of who your riding with....after all it is Alabama and there is a lot of banjo's being heard off in the distant river bottoms over there.

The road (25) has been patched in the worst places. It's not perfect; but it's better than it was. Unfortunately, I will prolly still be in GA for Dad's surgery. Have fun.

You're from Mississippi and you're talking? That's the pot calling the kettle black!

It's to keep it from becoming the "local Bar"

I think you have us cornfused with someone else....West Virginia maybe?

The only thing you hear in the woods right now (well 10 days) is deer hunting ;)

You know guns and Bama like hot chicks and bikes... just good together B)

Nope..........not from MS just living here...........I'm from AL......Cahaba Heights to be exact (Newmerkle)...from the nob, 1353 Valley Park Place. There is not a inch of dirt in the woods between Blue Lake and Lake Purdy I did not know especially the old dirt pits along side of the Little Cahaba River down by the old water pumping station. I wore out 3 dirt bikes back there in them there woods. All that is gone now, I use to squirrel hunt where the Summit now sits. So, since I'm from AL I know how we people is  Ya'll have fun and be careful, I'd love to come along and if work is not to bad backed up after I get back from a weeks vacation maybe I can come over for the weekend. I got Groo's cel # and if I can make it I'll be there w/banjo straped on my back

Welp... last night wife told me she has vacation the whole week, so I'm a "maybe" at this point. If we're in town, I will, if we decide to go out of town Friday, then I won't. Hope to meet up with you guys.

My riding friend says he saw an article about an Alabama road featured in Rider magazine. Apparently it's AL 176 from Collinsville (Garmin shows it starting around Gadsden) up to Fort Payne and the Little River Canyon Nature Preserve. Anyone know if this road is worth exploring?

On a side note, the current forecast for the trip to B-ham is looking wet. :glare:

Groo,

Below is a post that FJRFencer put up some time ago about 176. I have rode the area and it's very nice. Leaves are starting to change so should be perfect timing.

BTW, it's now saying 20% chance of rain for Friday instead of the 80+% over the weekend.
