DC accessory jack and associated fuse

I have a portable small air compressor that draws 8 dc-amps using a cigarette-lighter type jack. I want to use the existing jack on the 2006 FJR but that uses a 3-amp fuse. Could I put in a 10-amp fuse for when I use the air compressor? Would the wires handle the extra current?

Probably risky.

It's an issue often discussed here, here, and other places by entering things like +compressor +fuse into the search engine.
