Egan has the record at 101 hours, IIRC. That is gonna be damn hard to beat.

I know Egan did the ride in the time TWN has stated, but wasn't there some question of it being officially approved? I'm not trying to piss in any one's Cheerios, just something I thought I remembered reading.

Sometimes, "official" recognition don't mean dick. If your peers know (or, more importantly, if you know) you accomplished something, then that's all that matters.

There are a few folks here that have done some mighty feats of endurance that will never receive official recognition. Frankly, those records are above any sanctioning body's authority, IMO.

TWN, I hear what you are saying, but if someone is trying to break a "record" there has to be some kind of official, or agreed upon verification. No question you should always ride for yourself, but a record breaking ride means a bar has been established, and you are trying to beat it.

Since Egan's ride was eventually "verified" for "The Record" this is now a mute point.

Two, in particular, come to mind. SkooterG's record for mileage over 24 hours, and Warchild's week of BBGs last year.

I only ever fully documented one ride to the standard of the IBA. I took all the receipts, the route map, the witness signatures, sealed them in a manilla envelope, and threw it in my desk. With that task out of the way, I've gone on to do many much longer rides without the compulsion to document any of them.

....well, I guess my credit card company knows what I've been up to. If they ever get the authority to issue performance awards, especially retroactively, I'm turbo-screwed.

The record is 96:01, and has been certified as such.

Ducati continues to report it as 101 hours. When Gary got to Key West, he initially did not take into account the four time zone difference between start and finish, and Ducati's publicist compounded the error by adding another hour.
