I was just wondering if the motorcycle dealers are better at warranty work than the car dealers. Do you have to take it back again because they did not fix it, or are they pretty good about getting it right the first time.

Part of the problem with car dealers is that the mechanics getting paid commission don't want to fool with a warranty job. Leaving the mechanics with less experience to fix the warranty issues.

I would be willing to bet that motorcycle dealers are much better at this. Comments appreciated.

Luckily I have a great Dealer/Mechanic 15 minutes from my house. I've had them do 6 years worth of Y.E.S. warranty, and all of the Yamaha recalls, without any issue.

My experience with this primarily is from my time spent working for a HD dealership so is a bit slanted. I can tell you HD allows sufficient time on most of their warranty and recall work that the dealers can actually make money on it. We typically had 1 or 2 techs that would handle the bulk of this work and were damn good at it.I spent almost 16 years there as a part timer and I only recall 1 or 2 instances in all of that time having an unhappy or dissatisfied customer. YMMV.

I'm very fortunate to have a "perfect" dealer when it comes to the little warranty work I've needed. The story surrounding one episode I posted here. But I think they're a bit too far for you to use :) .

I have a good dealer in Indianapolis. This thought came to mind because of others frustrated with their automobile dealer. I just wondered overall how much better bike dealers were.

Totally depends on your dealer. I really like my guys and trust them. They've never messed anything up. Others haven't been so lucky. Ask around locally and see what you find, or just drop off your bike and see what happens. They may be great!

+1. Things vary so greatly it's pretty useless to ask here. Most seem satisfied with dealership work but you pays your money and you takes your chances. My story & pics in this thread https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/116913-dealer-performs-hack-job/?hl=burlington

Kinda the way I figured it actually. It seems that the auto dealers (at least the smaller ones) have more trouble with this. Probably the same for bike shops. I am sure there are exceptions. Myself, I will continue to do work myself. Unless a new FJR comes on the scene.
