Dealers that have repaired tickers?

I've been tracking the Cali dealers that have fixed The Tick.

Out of about twenty FJR's that regularly come and go on our group rides...at least five have had the Tick repaired.

And to reply to Nick who's thinking of buying a FJR... yes 05's may get the disease also. ( or may not depending on the bike.. no way to know for sure)

Roseville's fixed at least three bikes.

Grand Prix & GP Sports are the same owner and fixed at least one bike each.

Yamaha of Cucamonga gets good reviews by everyone that visits. Fixed at least one bike.

Here's an update on my ticker. The dealer had spoken to Yamaha and opened a record for my issue. Yamaha recommended doing the 26K valve adjustment. The dealer told me it would be at my cost. I called Yamaha Customer Relations and told them very nicely about my concerns. I was forwarded to a Product Specialist who was aware of the ticking issue. He assured me that if the valve adjustment did not fix the noise the valve guide repair would be authorized and it would be of no cost to me.

I've been communicating with the Service Manager at the dealer via email. He sent me an email today saying the valve adjustment did not resolve the issue and that Yamaha had approved the valve guide replacement and would also pick up the tab for the valve adjustment.

All in all this experience wasn't too bad. The dealer was cooperative and Yamaha Customer Relations was polite and informative. I'm grateful for all the knowledge I've gotten from this site, it definitely made my job a lot easier. I'll add DGY Yamaha to the list of dealers who have repaired tickers and keep compiling the list. Sorry I haven't been on top of compiling the list but things have been hectic around here with work and the holidays.

Currently, my bike is getting the tick fixed. Thanks to this forum, I was able to read all the threads pertaining to the valve guide problem and was well armed with the knowledge when I presented the bike to the service bay. I explained the history of the issue with them and told them outright that I believed I had a 'ticker' based on the symptoms that I observed. Fortunately for me, the service people had fixed one ticker previously, so they were already aware of the problem and did not give me a hard time. Sure enough, my bike turned out to be a ticker and the dealer was right on top of the problem having contacted Yamaha for the requisite authorization and parts.

My bike is an '04 with 17,690 miles
