Gee, thanks Tyler for posting all those wonderful pictures of DV.

Now I have this mental picture of me having to drag Wheatie outta there, kicking and screaming.

Most amazing pictures Tyler! I love your creativity and the colors from that camera are excellent!

Loved the shot of the shot of the clock tower at Scotty's Castle from in between the foliage!

Thanks, Sammy... I tried to get a different vantage point for well known sites... so I skulked in a lot of bushes over the weekend.

If it's 111 degrees, I don't think you'll have that much of a struggle... you boys have cooling vests, right? :)

BTW, its not only italian men that can get hot blooded...jes sayin'. ;)
Hmmmm... I'll have to test that theory out in a couple of weeks. ;)

DAY 5 - Porterville to Home

We both slept well that night and had a surprisingly good breakfast at the hotel (included) and then loaded up our stuff to take out to pack up... a couple of other riders walked by and said, you got all that stuff onto two bikes?!? What can I say... we are masters at packing (never mind the banana)...

We made our way east to Coalinga and along 198...

Back up 25, our picnic spot for lunch...

Erin's dog, Tribbles, stayed at my house with my pup, Bart, so they could keep each other company... Erin dropped her bike off and came back to get her four-legged friend... who was VERY happy to see her mistress (yes, Erin is under there somewhere!)... so it was a happy ending (so to speak).

I wiped down the Spyder which was covered in bugs and grime, unpacked my bags, sat with the aminals a bit, and reflected on the past few days... it was my longest trip yet since, well, you know... longest single day ride (340 miles), longest number of days (5), and longest overall mileage in one trip (1,415 miles). I'm getting more comfortable on the Spyder so it's becoming more fun and less work. I reflected on friends present and those gone... how lucky and blessed I am to have or have had those people in my life... and remembering to cherish every moment that I can with them because we just never know what the future may hold.

I close with a quote to remind you all that while we are out traveling life's roads and enjoying the adventures we experience along the way, no matter where you are or who you're with, home is where your heart is... and that goes with you everywhere.

"I learned that, if I ever go looking for my hearts desire again... I shouldn't look any further than my own back yard. Because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with."

- Dorothy

Wishing you all your heart's desires.

Funny (Read: Peculiar)! I was having those same thoughts during our ride today...thinking about TWN and O'vale and how they'd have enjoyed the pace we were riding, the roads, the scenery and the people we were with.

Good thoughts, Ty!

Love the Jane Fonda in Barbarella Poster. I do not remember that outfit- there were so many. Young Jane- She does something for me. I like Death Valley, I really like motorcycles but I really really like young Jane Fonda.

Aaah, the answer would be no. Here in the Midwest when we get high temps we get high humidity to go with them, cooling vest doesn't work very well in those conditions, seems evaporative cooling vests don't evaporate in high humidity.

I'll have to put this in the oops I didn't think about that category, and thanks for Thinking about that.

I'm going to start another tread and ask for some input on which one to get and where.

Well, then when staying in Beatty, book the Barbarella room at the Atomic Inn. ;)

Dear Miss Abby, oh excuse me, Dear Miss Tyler, Do they have a Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz or Eva Mendes room at the Atomic Inn? Inquiring minds want to know! Tu Papa Chuy Viejo has a "thing" for Latinas Las Mujeres.

Fully incredible ride report Ty and the photographs are truly award winning. Mas Caminos y Mas Amigos! You had a fantastic journey with amazingly great friends. Isn't Motorcycling grand, out on the roads with your buddies!

Looking forward to seeing you at Alice's.

GREAT photographicals, Tyler.

Always interesting seeing what you "see".
