Another fantastic Ride Report KJ, thanks for taking us all along! By the way, you never answered my question as to whether Debbie's Mom likes riding to Mexico!

KJ, I rode the new V-Max last year at a Yamaha Demo event. It handles like a fat sow at parking lot speeds, it feels like it is 500 pounds heavier than the FJR until it gets above 20 mph. Then it feels like it is 250 pounds heavier.
Remember that I am much shorter than you are, I am less than 5'9" but the bike just did not fit. The reach to the bars, the huge bolster on the back of the seat, the footpegs, none of that was "right".

Until... When I twisted the throttle to the stop Everything Fell Into Place. At WOT the whole package harmonizes, the ergonomics become perfect, the rotation of the earth stops, the only sound you hear is your own heartbeat and the Roar of That Engine. The front wheel wants to lift but it cannot because that wide rear tire is spinning. I can only assume that the tire cannot get traction because the road is too slippery due to the tears of the Angels weeping.

After those few seconds of intense, blinding pleasure, depression. The bike becomes a fat pig again. But, oh my. It is definitely worth it!

You do know by the way that our FJRs are right there with the original V-Max (stock) as far as 1/4 mile times right? There is not much difference there.
Me NOT being a VMax expert, but for 2 straight years of hanging with these guys... I believe you are correct on this, but w there Gen1's only.

The Gen1 VMax were a measly 115hp, but the OEM stock Gen2 VMax went up to 200+ HP. I've hung and talked w many owners of each, the Gen difference is night and day power wise. Those Gen2 VMax guys can spin tires anyway or where they want. The G2's also have lots of mod room, in-which many of these guys have done. There was one guy there claiming to have 300 ponies. I've seen plenty of Nitrous tanks onboard as well. Crazy modding compared to us guys who put more importance into the "ride" and comfort.

2 different drinks, I'm happy where we are w ours, but wouldn't mind adding a Gen2 just for around the town tire twisting.

Enjoyed the pics - thanks for the R/R.

What size is your top box?

Also, what drove your decision to take the BMW v/s the FJR?

-- Thanks 'pants, not nearly as detailed as your RR's however, so I bow to yurs! :) ...and then there's Tyler's RR's, holy rollers!, I'm definitely dog house material in comparison.

-- Large enough for 2 full faced helmets, not sure on the cubic's, but much bigger than my Yami OEM top case which was 1 helmet. I originally bought a V56 (brand new case from Givi). I pre-bought this in Jan, rec'd it in 3 Mos later only to start my mounting job...when I looked at the plate required to mount it to the tail and waived the white flag! (the K16 OEM top case mounts right up to the tail with no lifting/mount plate, very slick, no rise either. I also got central locking w it, LED lighting (inside dome-light as well). Cost was crazy, but you know what they say... "the only thing cheap on a BMW is the rider himself!"

-- Comfort, 85mph smooth as silkiness zero harmonic buzz ride. Mega gadgets that I'm now use to like TPM, built-in radar and laser jamming F&R, central BT hub (by the bike) w GPS and XM radio etc... I even used the alarm (keyfob) while at the hotel. I love toyz and even the one's I didn't find useful right away, I've caught myself now using. Crazy, and most here just want basic stuff (2 wheels and a gas tank) ;)

I rode my Feejer to a chicken wing-off last night as a matter of fact. It's actually in repo (by me!) but I still ride it occasionally and have enjoyment hopping on it from time to time. I really like love the AE shifting, but, I must admit I'm not as adapt to it as I once was when riding the FJR exclusively. I find myself grabbing for a clutch handle that just isn't there... yeah, creature of habit ;) . I really love the FJR, and as I have said many a times, the best value in ST bikes today. I know I met some Connie riders last weekend that would keep arguing with me about this :) ...but hey, this keeps the world turning and the diversity?, keeps our sport fresh!.

Geeze KJ, didn't anyone tell you before? A gentleman does not kiss and tell. :nono:

I've also heard that he should abstain from pimping out his girlfriend's older sisters.
