When moving back east we decided to buy a jucuzzi tub instead of a spa (HotSpring ~ Envoy) and have regreted it ever since. Well, the wife & I felt it was time to remedy that problem; so we are having one delivered this fall, which gives me time to finish the landscaping.

Here are a few before and during pics of my progress:

Very rocky soil

Area outside of concrete pad will be pavers.

Area near tree-line soon to be de-rocked and seeded

Thats going to be a heck of a run from the tub to the door come winter!! Especially with snow on the deck.

Good luck and hope you enjoy it!

Good thing you got rid of the kumbaya pit. It was too close to your house for comfort. If you burnt your house down while toasting marshmallows with the kids that would have sucked badly.

I think you'll like the hot tube better than the bon fires... and you'll smell a lot better afterwards.

About 50' from the door. Not as bad as our last spa, which was closer to 100', but then again, we didn't have snow in Fresno, CA either. Getting out won't be too bad, its getting in that will suck as our indoor body temps wont be warm enough to sustain comfort levels very long. can we say...hard nipples?

Never had a problem with it being too close to the house, but did have a problem eating on the deck and sufficating from smoke inhalation. I'll be pushing out to the center of the grass after all is said and done.

I'm not as young as I once was. This is actually becoming that 4 letter word I hate to use. I think carpultunnel is settling in my wrists as working a shovel is becoming painful.

Clearly you are going to pour the pad for the tub.

What will you be putting in the rest of the area that you have boxed in with the timbers?

Just curious...

Up here in State College, our spa is about 6' away from the door. Trust me, you'll want to get in and out in a hurry.

Pennsylvania winter spa tip: Buy a Speedo. Yeah, I know all the jokes about us geezers in Speedos, but you're not buying it for the beach. The reason why -- even six feet away, when the dangling part of the wet shorts hits the back of my legs, I jump. It sucks. Avoid it.

(This is assuming, of course, that you're not sticking up a privacy fence around that thing and you're not into flashing the neighbors. ;) )

I like the layout. That's gonna be sweet when you're done.

2" of quarry waste then pavers (country stone). It'll probably take the summer to complete.

I've also got a side walkway to be paved and a 12'x12' area under the deck (not shown) that will have pavers as well.

I thought I was the only one who said this to chicks. It doesn't work for me, how about for you?

Seriously, though, every time I get out of a hut tub I say to myself, "Man, I got to get me one of these." Enjoy.

Damn spell checker didn't catch that one. When are they going do invent one that will check your intent?

Sweet!! Let us know when to be over!! LOL

Here is the spa I had built last summer, for those wintry eves in Texas!
:yahoo:

Very Nice indeed!

So when does winter come to Texas? When hell freezes over...right? Texas ain't ever froze now has it?

Hope mine is half as nice.

We have about 10 freezes annually in Austin. I know I'm not getting any sympathy on that, but I was born and raised in the Austin that is located in Minnesota, so have had my fill of winter.

I am sure yours will be as nice, and you will have the satisfaction of having built it yourself. Add to that not having to deal with my pool builder, and I envy you! :)

I seem to recall it felt damn cold just outside San Antonio in January a few years back when I walked outside with my head freshly shaved.

As cold as the least coast?

I'm a Cali boy and find I get extremely hard extremities during anything below 28F.

Is this dog pile time?

Now I know why you can't go riding.

Look's like you'll be spending the summer a Lowe's or Home Depot.

Anyway, great job on setting up for the new spa. I want to see it when it's finished.

This is in addition to running the son to to and from Hockey practice and games, the daughter to and from dance, soccer and a play practice; and getting ready to play guitar for my brother-N-Law's wedding comming up Memorial Weekend.

When I'm not running the kids around I'm home being available for them, which gives some time to landscape...after homework, chores and dinner are complete...of course.

Your more than welcome to come a offer suggestions, but as I shared with Wild72, I have a problem sharing a spa with another person of the same sex. ;)

I am hoping my schedule free's up after school's out.

See you all soon.

Well,

I do have some experience in installing pavers(13 years in the landscape business) if'n you need some assistance.

You and Wild72 bring the women and I'll bring the wine for the grand opening.

And NO, I don't consider it a FUN time to be in a spa with other guy's either. <_<
