defeat windshield auto-retract on 2005

Just learning the Gen1 ... have the black dash plastic off and have tried the procedure for defeating the auto retract as outlined on fjrtech.com (it seems to be a 2004 in the pictures). I've tried to disconnect all three connectors on the C-D side of the dash but non of them defeat auto-retract.

I've searched but have only newbie skills and have not been able to find any info specific to the 2005. Help is greatly appreciated.

The procedure for the 05 is identical to the 04. The only difference between the two model years is the incredibly ugly paint Yamaha used in 2005.

Cut the tape. The plug is a shorting plug and has a wire loop. Cut the loop, run it to a switch, you get the best of both worlds.

Someone loves this auto retract mode like me,but this @#$&*#@ thing stopped working,and in someone other doesn't like this nice mode...
