Honda of pineville was pushing big time in all Media circles for te last week . Talked to 5 or 7 freinds about going . First thing out there mouths Dont eve try it . I found out why 14 mile rt with all the trimings 5 bikes went out i was the last to go just how i like it . The bike is unreal power , handling , sound system the bike feels nimble for 900 and something lb . bike ,The only thing that got me was the drive train i was down shifting like i was riding the 1300, Fixed that after 4 or 5 jolts. The thing is smooth after i found the right gears position .If you are going to demo one for the first time . The saying is TRUE going to ride it your going to buy it .I mind started working on how the )&%^#!$^&& HELL am i going to find a way to buy this bike as i pulled into the dealers drivway .And no ******** about my typing..................

Um, your typing sux!! :D

When I got my Feej I was actually shopping for a Wing old enough I could afford it. My brother straightened me out, and I've still never gotten a chance to ride a wing. Maybe that's a good thing.

BTW, the guy I bought my Feej from is on a Wing now!

Your typing is something - interesting thats for sure

Rented a wing the last 3 years while touring in the USA

It is an incredible machine -

The extra 10.000.00 seems to keep me on the FJ

If you want just a plain jane check out if Eagle Riders have any up for sale

Go for about 12.000.00 to 15.000.00 depending on year and miles

Be aware they were probable ran hard

If you were not kidding about your education level on a different post - your typing is a-ok

Yes, your typing is, well, never mind...

If a Wing is what you want, now looks to be a good time. I don't have the $$ for one without trading the Feej, and that's not gonna happen, butt I did contact one of the dealers on Ebay (basically because I have way too much time on my hands right now) and got a pretty good response.

This dealer had a Black w/premium audio and comfort option (heated grips/seats) for ~$4k off MSRP + $1K credit in accessories and an extra yr full warranty. Yellow same price and Titanium $500 extra. I'm sure there's similar or better deals out there if you look. You could get a CB and fog lights installed basically for free with the $1K credit.

The '12's are coming out in mid '11 sometime (no '11's due to changeover from Marysville, OH to Japan production), so I guess they're clearing out inventory. Honda is pretty tight with info on the new ones so don't know if it will be basically the same with some updates, or a new evolution.

Kinda like waiting on the new generation FJR; like that's ever gonna happen!

zorkler, no offense Buddy, but your typing sucks moist *** cheese! I am afraid that my Girlfriend Donna is going to take a ride with one of our friends with a Honda Gold Wing and I am going to be forced to buy one. FJRobert - Wolfhound and his wife Kiki from our FJR Forum own one and Brian - El Jefe and Melanie - La Reina Boles from my AZ Beemers Club own one; and Donna and I ride with those two couples all of the time. Those Buttholes Robert and Brian keep saying to me in front of Donna: "Take Donna for a ride on the Gold Wing and see how she likes it!" I DO NOT want a 900 fecking pound motorcycle!!!

When I work on a wing for a customer, I always take a quick test ride. If I could have both it would be cool but as long as I can only have one it's the FJR. For its size the Wing is pretty amazing.I haven't taken the wife for a spin on a Wing cause I know what would be next. Good thing I'm broke.

I agree about the quality and power of the Wing.It is probably the finest touring bike you can buy. When I used to sell these, the potential buyers wanted to purchase them for a low ball price. On the other hand Harley buyers would go for full price on a new bike. The Ultra is probably very close in comfort but the engines are light years apart in power and smoothness. I guess it is just the mind set we have that we can buy a Japenese motorcycle for a very low price.

Just checked Cycle Trader for GL1800's within 400 miles!

I owned a GL1800 from May 2006 until March 2009. It had a great engine but the suspension absolutely sucked. It was grossly under sprung on both ends and had a cheap cartridge on the right fork that was forced to do all the damping for the front end because the left side had a damper rod and all it did was activate the brake's anti-dive system. I upgraded the suspension with Traxxion's heavy duty spring kit (the $1000 AK-20s is what it really needed) and Traxion's rebuilt shock (much heavier spring and revalving). It took about 6 hours of labor to remove and re-install the shock. The suspension upgrade was a huge improvement over stock but it still did not have as good of ride as the FJR. The Wing's wide faring and side radiators are great in the cold and rain but it is really hot to ride in the heat, it feels like a furnace when the thermostats open and all the heat gets dumped on your legs. Handling is good for a bike that size but there is limited ground clearance so you can't push it that far (yes, I know what Yellow Wolf did on his Wing but it was not stock, he had $2500 of Traxxion's best suspension upgrades).

Overall, its a great bike for riding double if you upgrade the suspension, its an overweight and boring ride for a solo rider. I much prefer riding an FJR or a C14 (and so does the guy who sold the Wing to me).

That's some really low mileage Don. There are some good deals out there. Sounds like you may be entertaining the idea? I never wanted my wife to ride on one either, for the reasons you mentioned.

I think part of the bragging rights for a Harley owner is how much they paid for it - and for the Screamin' Eagle kit....

K7lvo, They were bringing incredible prices used for several years mid to late 90's. I know the State Patrol here was able to replace a two year old bike for a couple hundred dollars difference on a new one because of the insane price of a used Harley! I had two of them and did well selling them. I liked the look and sound but that was about it. Some folks just enjoy Harleys and at least now they can buy the one they dreamed of at the real price.

Yeah...it might compete with your 900 fecking pound "tool shed"!
