Doctor Throckenstein !!!
It works extremely well. Nothing but plastic up there, and plenty of clearance from the headlights. The signal gets in. Doesn't seem to be any less sensitive to me.
The way I have it oriented, when I start the bike to warm it up, I can see the blue light flash as the Escort boots up.
Too bad there's not a scosh more room under there. Would be nice for ballasts or leave the detector in it's case. Of course "nowadays" you'd think a detector would be the size of a bic lighter or a credit card... but I digress...
I even get good signals from behind.

So how well does it work???? I've been thinking about doing something similar.I took my 8500 out of it's housing, stuck it in a zip lock bag and velcroed the bag in the cowl under the headlights. I also use a HARD system in my helmet.
My philisophy is that if you get lasered, you're already GOT. And I get so many falsies, I usually just turn laser off.
If/when I get pulled over, the 8500 isn't noticeable, and it's not making any noise. I turn off my HARD when I pull my helmet off, and face it away from the LEO. May not help me any, but that's my theory and I'm stickin' to it.\
Also, I don't have to worry about it getting wet. And I can still plumb the audio into my intercom if I want to. Just don't want to. Rather have that red flashy in the corner of my eye...
