The bad news: The new 2010 Ford Taurus SHO won't be having Yamaha build its motors.

The good: Re-opening a plant in Cleveland that should create 250 jobs! 365 twin turbo-fed horses through a six-speed and all-wheel drive.

Backing up the potent powerplant is a torque-sensing all-wheel-drive system mated to Ford's 6F55 six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The tranny is augmented by a manual mode that can be controlled either by the console shifter or paddle shifters, and will also rev match downshifts and hold gears even when the tach is bouncing off the engine's redline.
My first car was a 1970 Ranchero GT with the 351 Cleveland. Did my first 60mph U-turn in that baby. I'm surprised I survived that truck. During a subsequent engine teardown I discovered that I could fit my hand into the intake ports on the cylinder head, but I digress....

**** like this makes me want to keep Detroit on life support. Looks like quite the sleeper sedan!

I drove a couple SHO's .. an '89 and a '92.

Looks promising. Let's hope they build them better than they used to.

If they make it in a REAL manual and wagon, I might consider one after my Outback XT wears out.

Yeah, me likey.

I've got a '98 SVT Contour I've had since new. I'd consider replacing it with one of these if I weren't so cheap a tight-wad enjoying not having a car payment.

My first car was a '73 Mercury Montego, 351 Windsor, power bench seat, bright red with a white vinly top. That car could not be killed. Don't think I didn't try.

 
I *still* drive two SHO's. Or rather, I one, and the wife the other. One's a '94 MTX that's pretty stock, the other is a '95 ATX that was set up for autocrossing. Good stuff.

Copy that. I've been through two LX wagons (88 and 90), and they were pretty decent family trucksters....

 
Must be some kind of a common theme here. I bought a brand new SHO in 1989 and drove it for 10 years. Good car overall, though it shows how Detroit got where it is today - you should have seen the huge, uneven gaps between body panels on that thing. But it was fun to drive, useful as transportation, and didn't break much. Wasn't even hard to sell when I was done with it.
