Differences between 2005 & 2005.5?

I've picked up that Yamaha had two releases of the 2005 Model year, were these just two build batches or are there diffrences between teh models? Tried a search, but for whatever reason I suck at getting good info.. Thanks all, PM is fine.

There was a second PDP (Prepaid Deposit Program) in 2005. So yes, there was a second release.

Well, I just went back through the Bin O' Facts, and the only notation I see to 2005.5 is regarding price.

But I did not find anywhere that it says there was or wasn't a difference in the actual bike as delivered.

That's funny...when I read the Matrix, it shows that through all the items that the 2005 and 2005.5 IS the same. 'cept price. Thus it DOES show that there is no difference, thus the question is answered.

Yeah, mine is the late PDP '05. According to the specifications the only change was the price. However, mine was excluded from the TPS recall because it already had the newer one. I don't remember other differences but there may have been a few other things that got changed mid-year.

IIRC, wasn't that Yamaha USA's mechanism for bringing the FJR into the "World" release. IOW, all models would then be the same from '06 forward instead of the North America bikes being 1 year behind?

Correct.

No real differences between the two bikes.... truly, it was just a second run of the same machine.

Early one may be a ticker...later one may be a ticker. :lol:

So far mine is not a ticker (over 26,000 miles). Manufacture date 1-05, purchase date 4-01-05.
