I plan on taking a lot of pictures on my ride up to Reno, and while there... anybody know if there will be access to a CD burner so I can download pics from my camera? I'd hate to run out of memory space while I'm there, and not have the ability to take pics for the remainder of the trip....

I'll have a powerbook g4 with me that is supposed to do cd/dvd burning, but I haven't done it.

Interesting point.

I think I'll carry a card reader and a thumb drive. Just about any computer will work for me to backup my pics onto the thumb drive for safe keeping.

Cards are cheap. Buy a couple of extras?
I thought about that... I've got a couple of thumb drives that I could download stuff to if I had access to a PC with a USB port...

Just trying to do some planning in advance... and maybe help others think stuff like this through too.... :) Doubt I'll be the only one who might find something like a laptop for downloading pics useful...

This seems like a good time to discuss why Yamaha saw fit to build a great bike without putting any thought into data backups. WFT, Yam, no USB ports on my FJR???

If someone wants to be an uploading whipping person, I can set up a portion of the server to upload pics to during the event.

I suppose that a pretty fair number of the people who'd be looking at the pictures will be in attendance...and they'll either be drinkin', gamblin', ridin', or chasing members of the Porn Actors Guild (PAG).

I just bought a 1GB card at Staples for $30, and have seen cards on sale there & Best Buy & Comp USA all at around that price. 1GB holds alot of photos ! I might be bringing a laptop with me but it kinda depends on how much room I have left in the Givi after everything else is packed up...

Find a Costco, WallMart, Target, Longs Drugs or any place that prints out photos from your CF, SD or other media, and they can burn a photo CD for you.

well at least this will be one vacation where i won't need a laptop so i can see what's happenin on here!!

Went down to Best Buy yesterday, a 512 Mb Memory Stick (Sandisk) was $20. Problem solved... can take 280+ pics at my max resolution... and still have the old one with another 170 or so capacity... :clapping: By the way, that's a killer price (even lower per byte than the higher memory cards, which isn't normally the case).
