...I bet they'll fill in with some other nice color in a few days :D
Yea, sparky's sorta got that peacock thing goin on. I wonder if the colors change when he turns in the sun ;)

And the good news is that you didn't break any joints, and you didn't break anything close to the end of the bone (furthest from center) so you'll heal faster than I did when I crushed the very end of my collar bone into 24 pieces. They all grew back together and are a huge lump of calcium now.
I learned this the hard way (asking the Ortho guy while he's treating you):

When you break a bone, there are tissue filaments that can stretch a very long distance between the pieces of broken bone. During healing, the bone will heal anywhere those filaments are, and therefore bones that don't look in line will grow back together. Having more bone than you used to can be a problem, as in my case the tendons operating the deltoid muscle are pushed out of place by my collar bone break, and the bursa also have problems when I rotate overhead repeatedly because the normal joint isn't there/is in the wrong place.

Sometimes I just type too much.

I hope you get better soon Sparky! 6 weeks prognosis? Weird lines through the purple bruising that seem untouched. I bet they'll fill in with some other nice color in a few days :D

Looking at the xray, I'd say you also either have, or have had a problem with the 3rd and 6th ribs too. I have broken enough bones to know. I should have an honorary radiologist certificate!
Yea, funny you mention the other bones as some in my office have said the same thing <_<

I may have to ask my doc about them...

The lines in the bruise is where my figure 8 strap rested for only a short time. It is weird but all I can think of.

Falling on a dirt bike happens almost everytime I get on one.
Sounds to me like you just answered why the bike highsided you.

My WR turns on a dime and gives 4 cents change. Front tire selection is everything on that bike. Still running the junk Dunlop 739 front?

Dude, Ouch! I broke three ribs last October in the dirt. Front tire went flat and washed out in a tight turn. I'm feelin yer pain. The broken collar bone sure complicates things because with just broken ribs, everything and I mean everything hurts. (like you don't already know that) Sitting, standing, laying down. Everything but riding! Think about the riding position. Arms extended, leaning slightly forward, all stress is off the ribs and it's like somebody unplugs the pain line. I discovered it by accident 2 days after my wreck. Sat on my FJR in the garage and it was instant pain relief. Spent the next 4 days in the saddle on and around the PCH. My wife still gets pissed about it when it comes up. She thought I was being macho but it really was all about pain relief. Make sure you get lots of pain killers, always good to have spares later :D

Yea, I have been struggling with getting this bike to handle like I want/use to other bikes. If I am in the proper position perfectly it handles well but as in the case of my accident I was tired and coming out of a right hand turn to a quick left and didn't get set up for it and hit the brakes.

It was a combination of not being confident in the bike and obviously making the wrong decision.

I have a 759 on order to get rid of the 739 and I have yet to raise the forks which I am going to do.

When I say I hit the dirt each time it is usually slow stupid mistakes like in the mud going across a creek or stuff like that.
