I figured it out. Welded Ti cover wants to be in shape of a circle, while end caps are oval. Need clamp to help assemble, and should have used it to take apart if I'd known the stresses. Tight and hard to get screwdriver or chisel between end cap and cover to pound end cap away from cover with mallet on screwdriver -- little bit by little bit.

Tip: Do not remove front end cap -- just leave it in place, pull or wiggle core off it and out back. Take small ball peen hammer and gently flare out the ends of hole filled steel core -- helps get it to start on the front cap smaller diameter pipe end, and then helps the back cap fit onto the core.

I just got one today I am assuming the "cone" portion goes toward the rear (exit) of the pipe? Is it much quieter? Did you change your map at all?

Yes, the cone portion does go toward the rear (mine was marked with permanent marker arrows on the packing of the quiet core. It is really pretty quiet until you get it up in the rpm range, but I never had the system on the bike with the regular core that it came with, so I can't tell you anything about about how much quieter the quiet core is. As to the PCIII map, I just used the one that Muzzy e-mailed me for the system. I assume that there might be some difference between optimum mapping between the lesser and the more restrictive cores, but it seems to run fine on the one map Muzzy sent me.

Not sure which can cover you have, but at least if you have the Ti Oval Cover -- when you take it apart, leave the front cap bolted to the cover. Unbolt the rear cap and use a clamp (I used a bar clamp with rubber jaws) to keep the cover in an oval shape (it wants to return to a cylinder shape) as you work a tool between the end cap and the back end of the cover. Then pull out the core off the front cap's inlet tube. I'd suggest gently putting a slight flare on the very ends of the perforated steel core with a small ball peen hammer, so that you can start it over the inlet and outlet tubes of smaller diameter that the core mates to on the front and rear caps.

Thanks for the help, everything went smoothly with the clamps in place, still waiting for the silicon to dry at first start up it seems louder but i guess the plastic holding the baffle material will have to burn off before it expands and really starts to quiet things down.

I'd like to bump this thread and see if jdeez1 was satisfied with the sound reduction of the quiet core as compared to the standard one. Did it reduce the sound noticably and do you think it was worth the money?
