Saw this on the SpeedTV boards somewhere, and even though it may be old news, I was unaware of it.

Not only will the AMA races not be shown live or even same day, but there will be no live feed to the track, either. The Jumbotrons will be black, the team monitors will be black, there will be no pictures distributed at the facility to ANYBODY. They're not even setting up a production truck.

In what they termed a "cost-saving" measure, DMG says they will record the event in-camera, then bring it all to the studio to cut.

Hell, I could gather up 8 or 10 camcorders at an event and produce a race show! I know enough people that can work a camera.

Calling the race will happen in the studio when they tape the show, after the race is cut the way they want it to be cut, which will be the first time the announce team sees any of it. Apparently they pretend it's live for the call.

So the DMG truly owns the TV signal, apparently thinking that it actually has some value to somebody out here in the real world. It will be presented however they want it presented, and when they want it presented. Nobody's gonna park a camcorder in front of a Jumbotron and post it on the neenernet, are they?

I'm wondering how much this had to do with Miller and DMG failing to come to terms. Did DMG want the Jumbotrons shut off during the AMA portions, or was it really just the money?

The new system from DMG sucks. And to make things worse, the first showing of the new race program failed to record due to a DirecTV glitch

Otherwise, Sheheen couldn't get his full-on annoying yell to sound genuine. That guy's the most useless announcer since Theisman. He's worse than Spencer or Sadowski, and that's saying something.

The AMA doesn't matter. Stupid rules, stupid stewards, stupid organizers. Hopefully F1 will be good this season.

Well, there was hope, until they announced that, like "Whose line is it, anyway?" that the points don't matter. F1 driver champion will be the driver with the most wins. Period. Points will break a tie.

I think Roger and Bernie have a thing going on.

Thankfully that wont start until 2010. Hopefully by then someone will have come to their senses. I like the point system as is. So do most of the drivers and teams, that's why they decided to wait until next year to impliment this stupid rule....

I was actually unaware of the latest until a few minutes after I posted that, and just now got time to steal from work and fix it.

It seems the teams pointed out in the FIA's own rule book that the procedure for changing the rules wasn't followed, and pretty much said if you do this, the cars won't run. So back to a points system for the championship, for this year.

Well, the counterpoint to that is... Guess who... Wait for it... The AMA.

Since the AMA's point spread is so mind-fuckingly ******** that it doesn't reward winning at all. Stewart has 8 wins in 12 races and doesn't have the points lead, the points leader has 3 wins. I don't care if a guy has 4 DNFs in a season, 8 wins of 12 races is kicking all the *** available to be kicked. There just isn't any rational system where winning 2/3 of the races doesn't net a points lead. I'm not a fan of getting rid of the points system, but I wasn't a fan of them changing it to giving points to the top 8, either. And it's still better having none than having the existing AMA system.

The saddest part of all this is that DMG has with the help of the AMA taken this wonderful sport and and really screwed it up. Not being able to see the races live or even same day delay is going to kill this. You have one power house team in superbike that is going to wax everyone else on the grid. The only racing is going to be for 2nd or 3rd place and down from there. The 600's should provide some good racing as should the l000 superstocks or super sports or whatever they are calling them. The bottom line is that this is supposed to be the premiere racing series in the u.s. and it now has the feel of a club event. I in no way am trying to belittle those who have to run in this series, but for my hard eaned dollars the only u.s. national race i will even watch this year happens to be at the usgp at laguna and that's by default.

Absolutely DITTO! my thoughts. Just when enough mainstream exposure to some of the most exciting racing going finally gets televised, the AMA drops the ball. A lot of non-motorcycle types where I work were finally getting to see what I had been talking about for the last few years and now they want to know where is the racing? My answer "WTF knows!?"

Two things.

Speed channel was really cool way back when before they sold out to NASCAP and reality shows. Note: this doesn't include the 'Livin' the Low Life' show. I would give a left nut to explore every square inch of VG's body. :dribble: Well, you get the idea.

Anyway, the 'shows' are stupid, not related to any racing (unless you're trailer park trash), and all are reruns. 24 hours of garbage. How many ******' times do we have to see NASCRAP?

Secondly, American motorcycle racing (due to the AMA's many fauz pas and now DMG) is the embarrassment of our planet right now. The Euros and Australians are laughing their ***** off.

Thank you, World Superbike. At least we have you.

Note to SpeedTV: Dump NASCRAP or give them their own channel. Hey, even charge extra. We want to see real racing, not 'Hollywood' crap.

:angry2:

I don't mind any form of racing, but your right theres not really anything on relating to bikesthese days. Not even on the old two wheeled Tuesdays anymore. Does anyone know who's airing Moto-GP?? I have Comcast and I haven't seen a thing this season.

Most of the GP races will still be on SPEED. The first race is in Qatar on April 12th.

Like the last couple of seasons, I suspect that a handful of races will be aired on other networks instead of SPEED.

Thanks GunMD. I remember meeting you at NAFO. You brought a six pack and we drank it under that shade tree. Nothing better on a hot day!

Yeah, MotoGP hasn't started yet. Speed's site shows the 250 at 8PM Eastern April 12, and MotoGP at 10PM. Oddly, no 125 is listed.

not only that but DNG just sucks .......... SOB ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i hope they have to live with bustanut for two weeks  ,,,,,, longer if they keep screwing up!

The Atlanta race sucked. DMG sucks.

Besides the fact that it was a one bike race, there was no sound except a little "bzzzzz" in the background. So we had to listen to commentary babble and really bad camera work.

Did I say DMG sucks?
