Hey, I love my bike but I'm getting an itch. The Gen 2s have some nice features that mine lacks. A little higher gearing, better heat management, a gear indicator yada yada yada. Oh yea, slightly used is ok 'cause I don't like the black ones.

What to do what to do?

I'd say scratch that itch bro, and do it. You will not be sorry!! If you love your '05 now, you are going to get up in the morning and jump on the new one without

bothering to put your pants on!! That task will take up too much valuable riding time.

Black is beutifull!

pull the trigger and be happy :p

Just ride the living crap out of the 05. I am still the original owner of an 03 picked up July 02. I have mine set up for LD and have thought about trading. But with having to pay $12000 or so and another $6-8000 to equip it like my 03 I pass each and every year. You can do a lot of riding for $11,000. if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Keep the 05 everyone who owns an 05 knows they are the fastest ones they made, esp the Galaxy Blue ones!!

I vote keep it... Although I'm somewhat getting the itch myself. I plan to put 100k+ on my 06 and I'm well underway. But I've done all I can do to it so it might be time to start over :)

We'll see what 2010 brings.

Oh and the economy.

:)

If you have a bike that makes you perfectly happy, don't throw good money away just to get a few features that will just seem ordinary in a couple months. Now, if you were unhappy with the 05 because of some issues that have since been corrected, I'd say upgrade. I'm sure there is an aftermarket gear indicator and it's not like you're in a really hot part of the country.

Ride the beeotch until she begs for mercy!

140K no wissues ask SkooterG.

***Ahem****

That's 190k to you mister!

You really want my opinion?

Screw the Gen IIs. Bad ignitions switches, ECM recalls, jerky throttle response, and now 'ground connector' failures that can leave you stranded.

What's so better about them?

:****:

Gen II?

Beh.

Just slap a car tire on the back and run the Dalton flat-out.

I plan on running my '04 until she blows.

Unless Yamaha does something REALLY cool for 2010, of course...

Run that 2005 through a deer - then you can scratch that itch and feel virtuous too! (or just run the crap out of the 2005 - if Skoot can get 190K out of his dirty old whore I'm sure you can do much better!

Yammie's going to have to do more than she did with the Gen II to make me change. I like my '05. Although she's getting a little "long in the tooth," at 40K, she still runs the roads with the best. I like that she's about a hundred pounds lighter, has no ABS, and has the shorter swing arm, too. The taller 5th gearing of the Gen II was an answer to a problem that didn't exist for moi.

BUT...like most of us, I'm looking ahead to '10 for some more substantive changes that could turn my head. WBill

The ONLY thing that i miss on mine s ABS. Not worth trading up to a genII just for that,IMO.

Lets see if AHAMAY surprise us and introduce something really cool for 2010.
