Was wondering,

Since I'm waiting to get my bike back from the shop, I figured I would get the frame sliders ordered. (I get a second chance at doing this right.)

Does anyone make color matched sliders? (yep, I'm vain! B) )

Along those same lines is there anything made for the bags to try to protect them in the event of a tip over, or are they just sacrificial? The thing I liked about my ST1100 was the tip over wings, they were very effective the one time I needed them.

:bleh: Quit falling over... Seriously though, never saw any color matched sliders.

Go to "Wild Hair Accessories" and look at "Matisse" sliders, they ere also no drill. When I ordered mine the ones on the web pictures were dark blue like the 05 model but when I got them they were about the same color as the blue anodizing on the non ABS front calipers (lighter). They said it just depends on how long they anodize them and they get them 1 order at a time so they dont know how light or dark they will be. But they do have about 5 colors to choose from other than blue! I have pics with then installed.

I got the Metisse from Wild Hair too. Instead of blue to match the bodywork I picked titanium which matched the clutch cover etc. quite nicely. A little spendy tho.

There are some bag protectors for the FJR, but they look really gay. The only guy I know of who has them lives near San Fran. :D

No he doesn't .. he lives 500 miles away.... down by LALA land!!! :D

Thanks guys,

Yeah... I should probably do something about my equilibrium imbalance  .

I really am kind of surprised that with the popularity of the FJR that there aren't more specific matching parts made directly for this machine.

I looked at the Matisse sliders, they look good. I have a question though, how do the Matisse sliders differ from the R&G sliders that you need to drill for? Are they as effective, or are they more of a tip over protector?

Not! I'm a proud Central Coast dweller! Santa Babs is 100 miles north of Flaketown. And, you guys are starting to give me a real complex over these things. It's starting to 'rack' up some serious therapy bills... :tease: Maybe I'll just go Godiva...

I remember a thread a while back about the Matisse sliders. They look good but metal sliders do not absorb the impact when the bike goes down. The energy of the fall is transferred directly to the mounting point. A good effective slider will absorb some of the enegry rather than pass it all to the frame. Works on the same principle as a crumple zone.

Check out Diamond Powersports. Sliders I know that they have different colors and they even light up as marker lights or blink with turn signals. Maybe that these are what you are looking for? Anyone with any feedback on these?

I went with the more substantial R&G's in the event it goes down again (paranoid).

Regarding Diamond Powersports frame sliders: They DO have applications that fit on Yamaha, but only the R1 NOT the FJR. I also confirmed this with their customer service department. Sorry for throwing you a bone Drake.
