From the size of him already and the size of his legs and paws I would suggest that your boxer get his licks in now while the Heinz57 Variety is still a pup. He looks like he has the potential to be a pretty formidable adult.

His paw is about the size of our Yorkies!!

Nice job on rescueing him from an obvious worse fate. He is a lucky dog no matter what he is!!

Mary, the dog groomer, says it's a ......"Leonberger". Leonberger Club of America (must be like the FJR Forum, or sumptin?) -- [email protected] Also, on page 10 of the May '07 Dogfancy magazine is an article about DNA testing to reveal breeds or breed composition -- MetaMorphix, a company in Beltsville MD www.metamorphixinc.com

Well,,

I have to say that this sure looks like what I have!!!!!

great!

Thanks

definitely has something chinese in him, either chow or akita. either way, work with him a lot so he's socialized and sociable around people and other dogs.

and i'm saying a big no way on newfoundland. i've owned newfs for about 15 years and i'm not seeing the connection.

I've had Shepherds for almost 40 years and am not seeing that either. Akita though, that is a good bet.

Nice homestead you have there!

If not exactly a Leonberger, puppy sure is in the style of a Leonberger:

The dog in doubt:

I think it looks more like an "AKITA" due to its curved tail, black muzzel, coloring, and No purple tongue. Check out this link and tell me what you see!

Because of the floppy ears and nose, and commonality of the breed in the USA, It likely has some golden retriever also.

Oh and check this out too. Here is one with a matching chest spot!

:yahoo:

yeah, He sure looks like a leo, but the tail says Akita, I guess I will just have to wait and see how he grows, he is kind of agressive toward other dogs, so that might mean Akita is primary parent.

He's a great pup, have him in a training class right now, sure hope he does not become to bad as far as agreesive towards things he needs not too.

I have been walking him daily and trying to introduce him to the dogs that run around the neighboorhood...

yeah the home stead is nice, Thanks you, however the log cabin isn't mine, just a neighbor, we do not have the need for privacy fences here, as it is more of a rural country setting. Evfryone watches out for the other, but do not bother you...

The lots are 100x300 except the log cabin folks bought our would be yard to the left, it is also 100x300 so they have a 200x300 lot, they are retired, so are my nieghbors to the right, so it is just a great quiet place and only a 1/2 mile up the street from the Ohio River, theres a dock down there we could use, but no water craft.....so no need at the present time

if he's showing aggression towards other dogs, make sure you're letting him know through your behavior and training of him that you (and all your other human family members) are higher up in the pack order; he may be doing the aggression thing as an indication that he sees himself as pack leader, and thus defender. of course, most dogs have some degree of pack protection, so what do i know. and from the curled tail, i think he may have a stronger-than-average tendency to be aggressive towards other dogs.

:( Just a little down today..... Some one hit my dog yesterday. When I called for my dogs and only two of them showed up, i got concerned because Wolfie has always been the first one to me. Normally he doesn't leave the yard and when I didn't notice any of the dogs around, I knew they were out and about...

At least he was having a good time when it happened....How I wish i would have just spent time playing with the dogs instead of messing around with the chainsaw.....

So, I put the other two dogs up and got in my truck and road up the street, that is where I could see him in the road as I approached....

I checked him out and got him in my truck. The poor guy was having a hard time breathing, I tried to talk to him comfort him as i drove as quickly as I could to the clinic only to find they were closed. So, I drove to another that was some distance away,I figured he may not make it. When i got there he was already gone, at least he went with me talking to him instead of ng hit multiple times laying on the cold payment...

Rest in peace my friend....

Just some photos of my buddy....

I just feel like I have been experiencing a lot of not so great things lately, frm damage to my property which can be fixed to now this, I feel like I let him down somehow......

Mike

I don't see a bit of chow there, sorry guys.

I go with the shep/malamute cross. Maybe a bit of lab? Does have a Leonberger look, but to find that in a cross breed? HIGHLY unlikely.

Has the face of a Tibetan Spaniel, but the size is not a match...*L*

Cute baby, many congrats. I see many bags of dog food on your future...

check the tail. of course, that also be indicative of half a dozen other breeds of dogs. but it would also at least show one indication of possibly a chow.
