Speaking of iPhone GPS apps.... Which one do you currently use? Is there a good one available? Turn by turn, voice command I mean.

my off the cuff comment was not 'pretending' to be anything, hence my multiple responses to de-fuse any potential consumer opinons.
There's a new gps coming out. That's all I said. I even stated I know nothing about GPSes more than once. You call that pretending to be important?

Considering most people view the 660 as the 450's replacement, it stands to reason that a newer version, possibly a 770 will be released to replace the 550.

If you know someone at Garmin, ask him or her why they won't stand behind the crappy 550 bike mount that they sold me? An "improved model" to me would simply be one that the company would back, not state that there were "no systemic issues", while replacing scores of them.

this is all very interesting, but with so many other things to buy, like tires...I'll continue to use my old Magellen Meridian. I orginally purchased it for geocaching with the kids, great fun BTW. You can create routes on it (but it's a PITA) it does not do that for you. You go in the general direction of your desitination and follow the roads you need to, to get you there. Great Fun! :clapping:
So, for me, I'll wait and see. In the emantime, I'm virtually certain there will be something else that comes along that I'll have to have :blink: before I get another GPS...

I don't know about that. I have a "friend" at Garmin too who faciltated the purchase of my 550 at the employee rate, but I've seen it retail for the same or a little less than I paid several times since then. :angry2:
Ironically, after having stirred-up this hornet's nest of mixed reactions, I don't even need or want a gps.
The whole goal was simply to (discretely, heh) mention that I was told there's a cooler new model coming out. I posted to the forum because some would likely find that interesting. Many responses, however, seem to have hung-up on the employee pricing that my friend is nice enough to share... but that wasn't the point!
Come to think of it, when discussing anything electronic, my whole post was moot. Show me a single electronic gadget that doesn't get cooler each year.
Before yesterday, I didn't even know what a spot tracker was.

I'd probably buy something from Microsoft or Harley Davidson first, before I bought another Garmin.
not sure why you're wondering about the spot tracker remark. I had never heard of that before yesterday, for real. Remember, I know NOTHING about GPSes, except the one built-in to my blackberry, as I said in the OP
