Yep, it was the rider of the bike that got up and ran afterward. Only kids can bounce like that and keep running

The pillion is the dude in the white helmet, red jacket.... he appears to be struggling unit. Perhaps it's the bone sticking out of his shin that is providing the discomfort.

I'm thinking that pulling over and accepting the speeding citation would have been the preferred option here, just guessin'.....

Looks like this clown on the bike was going the wrong way on this road. Notice that both lanes show a green light over the tunnel...

Screw the French.

When I first started to live in Germany in the 80's I had a room in a hotel, north of Dusseldorf. The German cops regularly pull random traffic stops where they wave little red lollie-pop flashlights and you never know if it's to check papers, sobriety or whatever. But the lollie-pops look goofy and we'd joke about them.

A coupla guys tried to run a stop that was put right outside the hotel and the cops hosed them with a machine gun, killing both. You shoulda heard the noise. Turned out the guys were some sorta terrorist types.

I never hesitated to stop for a lollie-pop after that.

1) Ix-nay on the upid-stay! :dribble:

2) Don't play "chicken" with French Policemen. :nono:

Hopefully not a "dudette"!

Gotcher tension, huh?

When I was in the USN (back in '79), we made a pit-stop in (recently post-Franco) Rota, Spain on the way into the Med. Some ****** cook on my ship went off the NATO base, got all lickered up and decided it would be a fine idea to steal a local moped and ride it back to the ship. Who would notice? Only problem was he didn't stop at the first set of gates, manned by the Guardia de Seville with automatic weapons. Needless to say, he didn't come down for breakfast...

Them Europeans take their security stuff seriously...

Ouch, how do you get up and run after that.

Oh well, we just have to accept that these things will HAPPEN

We tend not to run for the train any more.

When I was in the Army in Germany we would regularly go to France or Holland on weekend pass. DeGaulle was in power then with a mainly conscript Army which was a very sorry organization. They had universal male conscription & not all went into their sorry Army. Some went into the Gendarme National (Spelling?), their form of a national police. Wasn't uncommon to see four of them just standing on the corners of intersections in the middle of nowhere. Once got pulled over by them for "speeding" in my 57 VW Beetle which was hilarious as it would go all of 65mph downhill. Gendarme tried to confiscate my military ID which I promptly grabbed back & that sure pissed him off. Started screaming in froggy & I told him what he could do in my best military swearing language. Finally let me go with no ticket or anything. Worthless jerks that they were!!!!!!!!! Troubling trend with cops worldwide who seem to think it's OK to ram motorcycles. I don't care what offense the biker has committed, that's attempted vehicular manslaughter to me.

I got to spend a couple of years in Berlin on Uncle Sams nickel in the mid 70's. The first thing I saw getting of the plane in Frankfurt was a polezi with a sub machine gun at the bottom of the stairs. First attention getter.

Then I found out all the polezi carried the night sticks that were steel pipe with a large coiled spring making up the middle. So when they smacked you, the stick just kept on wakking. And they had no concerns walking into a rowdy crowd and start swinging. The first thing I was taught, keep yelling over and over, "AMERICAN, GI, AMERICAN GI. "

Damn, we had fun though.

The police car was chasing this guy on the bike who was going the wrong way down a two lane, one-way roadway through that tunnel. He ran into a cab (not a police car).

Are you saying the police should not have been chasing him?

As nasty as that head-on was it could have been worse if the oncoming traffic had not slowed due to the cops flashing lights. That chasing cop car might have saved their lives.

Yep...Cops are bad. Bad Cops initiated this by attempting to cite that motorcyclist. There oughta be a law.....

Yep...Laws are bad. Bad Stupid laws caused this by limiting what the motorcyclist wanted to do then forced the Cops to initiate the chase. There oughta be more regulations...

Yep...Chases are bad. Bad Stupid chase started because stupid laws limited choices and caused Cops to initiate the chase. They oughta be illegal.....

Yep...Taxis are bad. Bad taxi! It should be illegal to allow taxi cabs on the roadway. They make it extremely dangerous for motorcycles because stupid laws limit freedom of choice and cause cops to initiate stupid chases. There are too many cages of all types.....we need more buses and light-rail trains...

Yep...One-way tunnels are bad. Bad tunnels. They cause dangerous situations because other cars and taxi cabs use them and block the progress of motorcycles when stupid laws limit freedom of choice and force cops to initiate a chase. We need more code enforcement to eliminate the dangers...

Besides, "everyone" knows there is a world-wide conspiracy that all cops subscribe to. That's what all the law enforcement symposiums and seminars are about...making sure all cops are "on board" and in lock-step with the dictatorial powers of the UN under the auspices of public safety. Stupid public!

Cops...they're all trying to ruin the fun of motorcyclists! We need less bad laws and less bad rules and less bad regulation and less bad tunnels and less bad one-way roads and less bad cars and less enforcement so good motorcyclists can do as they please in more places and situations....

Shyeah....roight!

Disclaimer: YMMV. And all of the above was typed with "tongue-firmly-in-cheek". Besides, its ALWAYS the COPS fault. That's why we have lawyers to sue them for doing their job enforcing the laws enacted by the representatives we elect and the committees they appoint.

NOW the admins will close this thread......
