If it was a 5 MM it must have been his.I picked up an FJR nut clip on the side of the road in Burk's Falls, ON along Midlothian Road this past weekend.
Any chance that might have been yours?

I had them build my FJR Nut Clip into my RDL seat. The factory seat let the boys slide around too much and they were dragging on the road in the curves. Sorry guys, I was kind of busy while this was happening and did not get a chance to take pictures.
On a more serious note, I would think that anything that will keep the plastic parts from moving around would work okay for this application. Sounds like you did a good job of getting it fixed. I have lost more than a few fasteners and have found that self adhesive Velcro and zip ties have replaced clothes hangers and duct tape. I usually find the offending fastener several months later and get it back on the bike.
