For those of you saying a couple of beers is going to get you arrested, you are sorrily mistaken! BAC is a science, not a hunch. Now, if you fail the FSTs and refuse a breath test, well then your own stupidity got you in trouble, not a low standard.

Yes, it is a big business because too many people (as evident even on this forum) don't believe someone should go to jail for it unless they hurt someone. So, what are the alternatives? Tell them not to do it again? Yea, that'll work. Make them promise? Suspend their license? None of these "remedies" have any affect for a person who just simply doesn't give a **** about anyone but himself. Thus, fines are imposed.

Any of you who think this is a trivial issue that happen to be in Portland, hit me up for a ride along. I'll show you on ANY night why it is NOT trivial. This is some serious ****! People who have been drinking to excess (and yes, I do believe that in most people, a .08%BAC is in excess for driving) can't make appropriate decisions and shouldn't be driving.

Just kidding. I've never taken the wheel even the slightest bit impaired in all my days on earth.

I agree with you Toe, I spent 30 years driving Big snow plows and graders with wings in blizzards. As long as I eat something I feel that I can handle six or eight beers in an evening.
I think you may have missed that little part of his post.

Do you have a formula for oz of alcohol per hour at a given proof and body weight - and fat percentage, and density altitude, humidity, lunar phase...?

This based on your unbiased DUI funded experience no doubt....

Use Google and you'll find several websites with calculators you can use and/or buy. It's really not that complicated, consisting of three dominant factors - # of drinks, body weight, and time elapsed since you began consuming alcohol.

Wait til a drunk nails you then tell us what you think. If this isn't a problem then maybe all those that say DUI's are for revenue shouldn't ***** so much about cell phone moms either, almost same abilities as far as information processing. I've dealt w/ too many dui VICTIMS to feel bad for anybody that drinks beyond the limit and gets behind the wheel.

THE VICTIMS are usually unfunded by their DUI experience.Hospital bills can easily run to $100,000 for a drunks"trangression".

Poor poor drunks, they get such a ****** break in life. **** them and the horse they rode in on. Oh and their sooooooooo pleasant when they're motherfuckin you, kicking and punching you 'cuz your trying to stop them from bleeding to death while they are trying to avoid a DUI they know's coming.. When that happens, it's amazing how quickly they cry when they receive a smack to the head. You swing at me I must defend myself usually w/ equal force rendered, and if you're drunk don't tell me you're sorry AFTER they cuff you w/ felony assault charges you piece of ****, too late for that.

Deal w/ these jagoffs BEFORE you start whining how unfair it is. If you get nailed for "a few" either gain weight or wait an hour before you leave, if you can't control yourself there maybe some other issues at hand that need to be addressed. My father is one of those that can't put a ****** beer down so I have a little more history w/ drunks than most. He thinks it's okay 'cuz "it's only beer" not hard liquor :arrowheadsmiley: .

Dui's are sooo easily avoidable it's ridiculous, prove that statement wrong and I'll buy you a beer.

QUOTE

Picked up too many dead kids to have any mercy at all for drivers with any BAC

And typically, at least in my experience, the drunks get treatment last, after the innocent are cared for

They'd come in DEAD last if I could help it!

Someone mentioned pulling the license of anyone caught DUI as a good start. Well I'm not sure it would do anything. A local city ran some checkpoints about a week ago; 10% of the drivers were either unlicensed or driving with a suspended license. The only justice was that all of the unlicensed/suspended drivers had their cars impounded plus driving citations. But frankly, I'd rather have them off the road than the government taking their money.

I really think something like the licensing requirements in some European countries is what we need. Weed out the unfit drivers by having rigorous driving tests and putting up some serious money (I seem to recall reading that a drivers license in Germany costs about $1800). If you have to make a serious investment in driving, both financially and in training, maybe they'll be a little more careful.

And to think the words "FJR" nor "motorcycle" never appeared one single time in the body of any post.....prior to this one.

Take this political crap somewhere else! :angry2:
