I just used this for the first time to empty the tank before removing it. It worked great. It weighs nothing and it's compact enough to stuff in the tail section where I have a fuzeblock and the tire repair kit.

I really don't want to be a "spoilsport" or anything, but. . . Honest, I don't like to come in with a negative response to a post like yours. I can see that this product could be handy sometimes, but I do have a concern. It looks like you put the end into the tank and then pump it up and down to get the flow started. Beats a mouthful of gasoline any day for sure. But does the gas-tank end have to press down against the bottom of the bike's tank to generate the pumping action? If so, it seems like it would only be valuable for what you used it for--emptying your tank--or for getting a donation from a fellow rider if you run out on the road. That's the reason I'd be carrying a siphon, myself. And with a piece of tubing--at a couple cents a foot--I could get gas from anybody who was kind enough to stop and offer me some. Even someone in a . . . car! I do like the included container to catch and pour with. If I'm wrong and it could get gas from a deeper source--like a car tank--I'd be interested. Can it?

Looks like a handy item. Where did you find it and why would you carry it around on the bike? I know the cost of gas is going up, but the tube doesn't look long enough to get down into an automotive tank. Then you would need a gas can.....unless you can really lower the bike

It was great for emptying my tank. I bought it to take on my dual sport bike as insurance in case I ran out of gas in the boonies. It's so light, I am thinking I will keep it on the FJR. I don't expect to run out of gas, but some of the guys I ride with have much less range -- one of them coasted into a station the last time we were out. Yes, the container has to be lower. The case of the hose is designed to be a gas container - you fill up the container, clip the hose, and dump the gas, then repeat. I don't know how many guys take off their tank with gas in it, but this thing makes it easy to get the gas out with no pumping and no gas in your mouth.

To SacramentoMike's question: No, the hose doesn't have to press against the bottom of the tank. The pumping action is accomplished simply by moving the pump end of the hose up and down in the fuel for about 20 sec. I did that and it started flowing and emptied my tank.
