I have been trying to insert pictures for the last month that is why I am so late with this post. I have a friend, FJR owner, who lives in my hometown of Boise, Idaho. Brent called me about riding to see him with some friends of his from Portland. I live just south of Portland in Salem. I meet these four riders outside of Portland in Sandy, Oregon Friday afternoon August 3. Three of these guys were riding Ducatis, two ST4's and a 1000DS and one riding aTriumph Sprint ST. The purpose of the ride was to join in a rally at Fossi, Oregon.

I found out this ia an unofficial event held every August and was originall intended for a small group of European bike owners who wanted a rural low traffic area with a lot of twisties for a spirited weekend of riding. This area is perfect riding country with very well mantained roads with every type of curve imaginable.

We took off from Sandy on hwy 26 past beautiful Mt. Hood and over the Cascades into central Oregon. We went from heavy rain forest to dry desert in less than an hour. This is some of the most beautifu scenery you will ever see. We turned onto hwy 216 stopping in the quaint little town of Maupin for fuel. Maupin lies in a beautiful canyon formed by the Deschutes River. We continued on hwy 216 turning off onto hwy 218 through the towns of Shaniko and Antelope ending up in Fossil. It was a great ride with lots of nice twisties. I managed to keep up with the Duc's on my FJR.

Arriving in Fossil we were eventually joined by over a hundred other riders and given maps showing the route for the Saturday ride. It would be a 400 mile ride through the Blue Mountains ending up in the Central Oregon town of Redmond. A5 acre field was available for camping and live music was also supplied. Our groups plan was to spend the night ina motel in Condon and ride the desgnated route until intersecting hwy 26 near Bates. From there we would camp out at UnityLake State Park and three of us wouldhead to Boise on Sunday for a barbecue at Brent"s. The other two had to head back to Portland for a work day.

After drinks and dinner and a lot of conversations with other riders we headed for our motel in Condon. After some late night adult beverages at a rustic old hotel walking distance from our motel we got a good night sleep.

The ride the next day through the Blue Mountains was great with stops at Heppner and Ukiah. I thought we were really making fast times until I we were passed like we were standing still by guys on crotch rockets. Those guys were really moving.

We spent Sunday afternoon and Monday in Bosie and then rode back to Oregon on Tuesday stopping only for fuel. I hope to make the trip again next year with this great bunch of guys. It was a blast other than the night in a sleeping bag. :assassin:

Wow! A 400 mile group ride with a hundred other riders! That must have been epic. And you had to slow down and wait for the Ducatis you say? Understandable. I know how you feel being passed by sportbikes. It happens to me every time I go riding. Are we old? Photobucket is the way to go in posting photos here. Thanks for the report.

There were probably closer to two hundred riders, but this was not a race and groups left at different times and made stops at different places. The object was to end up at the campground Saturday night. I am using photobucket and get the (Sorry, dynamic pages inthe tags are not allowed. I checked the type and it is JPEG image. I have spent many hours trying to post these pictures without any success.

Instead of using the "Insert image" button on the forum editor, just click the "forums" link by your picture on Photobucket. It copies the correct code to your clipboard, now just go to your post and hit CTRL-V (or right-click and pick "Paste") to paste it in.

I don't know if that's the answer for you, I've never seen the dynamic pages error, but it's an easier way to post, a little less dialog activity.
