Running lights never took into consideration red/green color blindness.
True. But since the lights are used after dark, there is no practical alternative other than a colored light. I cannot say for sure but color blindness would probably make it difficult to get a Captain's License.

Since you already stated that you have your ear plugs custom colored red for right, can we assume you are not color blind?

It is also worth noting that channel markers are color coded red and green as well. Outward bound the right(starboard) channel marker is green, the left(port) channel marker is red.

However, channel markers also have designated shapes.

The Red marker is shaped like a triangle.

The Green marker is square or rectangular.

None of which really matters here. Finding a color code or other easy identification mechanism for your custom ear buds is obviously not going to be the same for each of us. We each find what works, then we stay with it.

So, just curious. What happens when they go in the other ear? I can't tell the difference with my Ertomics. However I can tell with my westone customs.
I've wondered that as well. I wear mine backwards because it's easier to find the little volume control thingie when it's on the left side. On the right side, when wearing gloves, it's too hard to find in helmet strap / D-ring jumble.

All that is Left to drink is the Port (red).

red/green color blind. right=red, left=light/blue. in the dark i can't see either. with any kind of light there's a clear contrast. since the bike's not a boat i never considered those standards. interesting how they deal with such a common problem. i know being in demolition wouldn't be an option for me. "Cut the green wire with the grey stripe? WTF,O???"

I'm a Deuteranope

Deuteranopes are more likely to confuse:-

1. Mid-reds with mid-greens

2. Blue-greens with grey and mid-pinks

3. Bright greens with yellows

4. Pale pinks with light grey

5. Mid-reds with mid-brown

6. Light blues with lilac

Both bunches of bananas look the same to me as do their sample traffic lights and chart printouts. I can tell the difference between catchup and chocolate sauce because "it's fire engine red enough" but many purples look blue.
