Dah, dah daaaahhhh!!! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's IntelMan!!! :)
Macs run off Intel now. ;)

Congrats, Jwilly, once you go Mac, you never go back...
Wanna bet! My industry has a long and dark history with Macs. A few years back, Adobe vowed to never release any future software for one platform until it was ready for all. At that point, my life began to have true meaning.

:)

You guys buying MACs, what next? Harley Davidson???

:D :p :(
Well they both look good, but i prefer not to touch either; its just dirty!

Galaxy: In your efforts to poke fun, you know you got that whole charbucks drink thing right, right? That means clearly you're posting from either your iBook (eek!) or iPhone!
NOPE!

Toshiba laptop with Intel Centrino Duo and a Moto Q. :p

But the coffee thing is almost correct for me!

I order a Venti Americano, 5 pumps of mocha, and 2" of steamed milk. This is my watered down,MORE Caffeine verson of the original "Caffe' Mocha" and CHEAPER :good:

What?, ya don't want to "queer-off" with the rest of us, kevin?
not that there's anythin wrong with it, but i was bettin that FJRchick was a... well a chick which would technically keep us out of the general "queer-off" topic. I was jest tryin to avoid the wrath of two women at once.

But hey O. dont let me stop you from gettin your queer-off on!

Bah, Mac's arn't really Mac's anymore. They've ditched their Motorola Processor for the Core duo from Intel as well as ditched their OS for Free BSD with a hyped up Mac interface.

So really all thats left of the Mac, is the inflated price, cult status and lack of games (if thats your thing) that there has always been.

Back in the day, I wouldn't be caught dead with a Mac in my hand, less I was chucking it out a window. These days, i wouldn't mind getting my hands on one and playing with it for a spell. I just don't want to pay that much for the damn thing.

Oh, and I don't do the super fruity coffee thing either, mine's just a plain White Chocolate Mocha +2 shots. To hell with all the no fat, no caffine, no taste crap. :)

I gotta say, this MAC runs Windows XP in a virtual environment better than any PC i have used in a while....

Still having one hell of a time find the second mouse button! :angry2: Are their support groups or how do you get over the lacking right click?

"Hi, I'm Jason, I'm a right-click-a-holic."

"Hi, Jason."

Really, just "control" + "click." It does the same thing, just differently.

When Mac's break, they break completely. At least with PC's you can usually retrieve your data. Personally, I'd use a Mac for a boat anchor, but that's about it.
LOL ... my sentiments exactly :yahoo:

And that's just ignorant. As with any system, you backup your data. rsync works for free, SuperDuper is nice, and a .Mac drive for really simple backups.

OS repair works WAY better than Windows.

New installations are way faster, and the Mac utility for moving to a new machine is rock solid compared with the windows user migration POS.

Now, as for recoverability... let's see. If a hard drive fails, that's hardware. Are you telling me that hard drives are different between Mac's and every ubiquitous PC out there? Come on.

The truth is, Windows 'fails' more than OSX does, and the ability to 'recover data' wouldn't be an issue if Windows were anywhere near as stable. The reason, as you put it, 'when Mac's break, they break completely', is because when a failure DOES occur, it's the HARDWARE, not the OS.

Call me a fanboy, I use what works. If you show me your ROI spreadsheet, I'll show you mine. Don't have one? Huh.

Yeah, what ngarider said. Check the brand names printed on the side. Same.

OK, I do have one gripe about this thing. No where to stick my pcmcia Sprint broadband card? Me gots to have internet while traveling...

Could be a deal breaker for me making a permanent switch.

Their PC Express card works great, got one of those myself. I've got a fair installation of those, and they swap 'em out for me if someone on a PC gets a Mac.
