I proudly showed it off at work the following Monday.

What a great bike the FJR has been...Maine to California, BC to SC...it's been great. :yahoo: The great thing is...so have been the vast majority of the people I've met riding it. :clapping: It's been a great 8 years...hopefully many more years of carving up roads, carving up the continent.

I'm gonna ride the crap out of the FJR down in Hooterville...that's what I'm gonna do. :yahoo:

Eddie,

You don't want to see a WheatieCustom...well, cover your eyes, but here is the WheatieCustomization in October of 2008.

WheatieCustom

Petey saw this customization firsthand in an S-curve in AR that cold October morning...

Anyways, all's well that ends well. I picked up my new to me FJR in November of that year. My second FJR has seen Sag Harbor, NY, British Columbia, South Carolina, California this year, and will see Hooterville, MO this weekend.

Some would say it's dirty and needs cleaning. I say that's what offseason is for. :D

Here's to many more miles... :clapping:

Most excellent post. Congrats on a great 8 years Wheatie, and have fun in Hooterville.

Thanks Greg...I remember you doing the Hooterville route after doing the BBG. :dribble:

I thought you looked like toast before the ride... :)

So THAT'S what it looks like with out bugs on the windshield!!

Many more happy miles!

Congrats, Mark. I think many (most? all?) of us feel the same way about our Feejers, and especially our Feejer friends.

Without getting all sappy about it, I can say unequivocally that buying into the FJR, and all that that entails, has been one of the best things that have ever happened to me.

Now can we all sing a round of Kumbaya? :p

Oh damn. I hope that you didn't take that offensively, Wheatie. I really do think it's cool that any of us care enough about these rides (and fellow riders) to post an anniversary announcement.

I think sometimes that people put way too much stock into my surly looks.

It's just a birth defect, I tell ya'. Really. I'm a hell of a nice guy underneath it all...

Here's mine from whence I got her:

Brand spanky new, a virginal pre farkle FJR spending its first day at its new home.

While I know the anguish of waiting for the physical "delivery" must have been excruciating, I think that the satisfaction of the actual event must have been so extreme for you PDP guys as to be something approaching orgasmic.. Probably about the closest any of us males will ever get to feeling the (supposed) joys of child birth. But without the forceps squished head.

Some day I should buy a brand new bike. But I don't know if I'll ever outlast my (used) '05!

Seven years and two months ago today I first laid eyes on her.. It was love at first sight:

Now 80,000 miles later, I'm still in love.

Oh crap, look at the glossy photo spread the 'Beam just put up while I was diggin' for one crappy snapshot. Alan, give us regular guys a chance, huh?

I have to agree with Fred and the others who said that owning an FJR has been one of the best things that I have ever done. I never expected to enjoy riding it as much and as far as I do, and I didn't realize that I would meet such a great group of friends through our common motorcycle. Though I have to give some credit to 'social networking' via the internet.

I got my '05 FJR brand new in July of 2005, but the earliest picture I can find is from April 2006, on the Cherohala:
