What a great bike the FJR has been...Maine to California, BC to SC...it's been great. :yahoo: The great thing is...so have been the vast majority of the people I've met riding it. :clapping: It's been a great 8 years...hopefully many more years of carving up roads, carving up the continent.
So THAT'S what it looks like with out bugs on the windshield!!
Mine used to look like that. Not anymore! lol

I can't find where my first photos are - I think they are on an old computer in the closet. :(

But here's is a photo taken 3 weeks after I picked up the old DOW when I was making a return trip to the dealer to pick up my sidebags and was now headed home. (Remeber that for many of us in 2003, the sidebags were late and showed up weeks after our bike did.)

And here she is back home next to my old Connie and roomate's Harley knock-off.

Nice thread to start up wheatie! Picked up my first '04 in August 2003 after "waiting" for what seemed like an eternity. Now on FJR #3 it's the bestest purchase I've ever made. ;)

Great memories and the best group of people one could ever know! What other inanimate object gives you the ability to meet folks and have friends from literally around the world? :clapping:

Aaaaah! The moment of nervous exciting adrenaline when I picked up my 04'.

After wanting it; but knowing it was too much for my first bike..found a 91' Connie to start.

Yet a mere 13 months later He was purchased.

WELCOME 'BLACKSTROKE'

I was searching for a 2006 Honda CBR1000RR. I saw this on the showroom and it spoke to me. I had to take it home. One of the best moves I have ever made concerning motorcycles. 93,991 trouble free miles later. I still feel the same. It was the last year they had to be preordered and my local dealer had the forethought to allow each mechanic in their employ to order one. I called a friend to let him know what I had done and he was a bit pissed because he ordered one that had still not arrived  and I was able to just walk in and take one home. :yahoo:

Hey Larry, the 2005 model was the last one that needed to be 'pre-ordered' under Yamaha's PDP program. In fact, after the initial delivery of PDP 05 FJRs in late 2004, they then released a bunch more for delivery in early 2005 without 'pre-ordering'. That put the FJR back on a traditional schedule of info on the next model released in fall, with normal deliveries starting late in the year, or early the next year.

First day I laid eyes on her... note that her tail had been bobbed by the PO. Had that fixed quick.

Great thread idea Wheatie, thank you. But for the sake of accuracy here is the real photo of SkooterG and The Dirty Old Whore, first picture he previously posted up was an obvious PhotoShop job!

So, when my house was burgled Jan '11, the turds got all my digital cameras and flash cards, so one of the very first photos can be seen top left in my avatar with my '78 XS 1100, both still cuddle in the garage with my wifes mean assed scooter, Honda Ruckus....

Nothing like a brand new shiny FJR! :yahoo:
Riding with Wheatie and group one day in WV was enough for me to run right out and get one of my own.

Right from the dealer, I pulled it in the driveway with 26 miles on it, took this photo with Sally.

Marty,

In a new kitchen you can put together some things to nourish your body.

That FJR will always nourish your souls.

And I know from following you two at EOM '08 that she "gets it" too.

Say hi to her for me (Sally not your bike)

;)

Looks kinda strange naked.

I'm sure it's much faster now that you changed the oil in my California garage :p
