I am planning on adding some electrical items that I'd like to control with the bikes ignition system... so I don't have to worry about leaving something on and draining the battery. I already have a fuse block picked out... Blue Sea. I just need to know where to tap the power? Again, I want to tap into something that is "switched" and not straight to the battery.

Thanks!

On my '04, there was an empty female slot open in a junction block/plug between the battery and the coil under the D panel. Just crimp a male plug on the end of a fused wire and stick it in there.

Of course the windshield retract as, Randy sez, is a favorite for a switched power tap.

For a "switched" power source, some use the running light on the fairing, but you must use something that will unplug to remove the fairing.

Edtied: If you are mounting the Blue Sea under the seat, you can also use the tail light wire as a source for switched power, that way you won't need to run "that" wire through the engine compartment.

That Blue Sea fuse block is pretty nice. I'll be needing one like that soon I hope. One question, why one with a negative bus?

The reason for the ground bus is because I like to ground some items directly to the battery, such as the stereo.

Also, as someone mentioned above... I found a better place to access power, there is an unused connection under the "D" panel.

I mounted mine under the seat and it was easy to tap into the taillight wire.

Plenty of good discussion here also
