The side I went down on, notice the space

The other side, nice and flush.

I took the rear bolt loose to see if the frame would go back in but nothing. Of course I didn't try to force anything.

I would think if it had been this way it wouldn't be so clean.

What do you guys think?

It looks like there's a missing piece. I haven't been into that part of the bike, but is seems like there's half of missing bushing or something. Maybe it got knocked out?

Sorry Ignacio, it is on my gsxr.

Looking at the left side it is different from the right.

If the frame was all the way against the engine on the right the spacer/bolt would be way out and not look right either. The more I look at it the more I think it is normal.

Thanks for your response though.

The same side but the rear engine mount, the space is there also.

Need to find some other 03 gsxr owners I guess unless Smitty remembers?

I just had a thought, the right side has pinch bolts where as the left side does not.

The left side is held directly in place by the bolt being tight against it.

The right side uses the pinch bolt like our forks do to keep it in place along the spacer.

Typing outloud here!

totally normal. it was designed that way, to accommodate variance in the frame and engine size. fjr does this way, too.
That's why, on the FJR, the engine mount bolt tightening sequence is to loosen the pinch bolts, torque the left side first, then the right, then torque the pinch bolts. The engine is supposed to be tight against the left side of the frame.

I'd bet your bike has the same info in the manual.

Thanks for both of your responses, it puts my mind at ease.

My manual is on cd and I looked at it. Pictures didn't help, I may not have read it completely to get what you are saying.

Thanks so much. I went to 2 gsxr forums and no help. Another reason why this place is so excellent.
