'05 engine 16k miles Illinois good feedback scores...

I'm getting yansy that my independent shop mechanic hasn't called me in weeks to inform that one of his engine and motorcycle salvage brokers has found me an engine he's willing to swap for me.

Howie sent me this ebay info about an engine he put on his favorable list.

any opinions on this...I request what ya'll think and today I'll call my mechanic to discuss my situation

The engine looks complete. I've learned that 'the engine was started before it was removed and ran well' doesn't mean shit. At earliest opportunity look in the exhaust ports for oil (ticker diagnosis) and perform a leak-down test. You won't know about the transmission (popping out of gear) until the engine is in and she is completely buttoned up.

Beware of exhaust ports that don't have an even flat black coating. If they look too clean it may be a ticker that had the exhaust ports cleaned to get rid of the shiny oil.
