Does anyone know what color the crankcase covers are? Last night my 07 AE with only 251 miles on it, did a very slow fall off of its kickstand. I scratched the mirror (new one on order already for $110) and the left side crankcase cover. The scratch on the cover is not that bad, but since the bike is literally brand new I would like to touch up the paint. A new cover is approx $90 so if I could touch up the scratches AND have it look good I would be much happier. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am still extremely upset at myself. :madsmiley:

Yep

The engine of All FJR's is the same color. If you go to colorite and look at the 2005 FJR, it has the engine color identified in the table. For some reason they didn't do the same for the 07s.

Thanks! Just what I needed for paint info.

Also, looking at the armor covers made me wonder if anyone else made "decorative" covers. Not that I would necessarily use them, but....

On a side note, go through University Motors in Fargo ND next time for parts. They can save you some coin!

Sorry about the tipover, it's happened to a lot of forum members. My FJR still bears the scars on the crank case cover!

I would not buy ColorRite paint (again).

Check the Bin-O-Facts for paint. I don't know if the "07 paint is the same color as the '06 paint.

What I do know is that the paint I bought from ColorRite didn't match on a spray-out test.

The follow-up call with ColorRite tech services wasn't confidence building, but they did agree to refund my money in the end.

(They told me the paint was non-refundable when I bought it, but they also guaranteed it would match, so you can tell how that conversation went.)

I had a custom color match done by PPG, it cost less and the match is excellent.

Looks factory in all lights. (U can Google matamerism.)

Didn't they tell you? That's how we all christen our new bikes. Now it belongs to you!

Buy sliders instead!

Yep, I can attest to the effectiveness of the Skyway sliders having just dropped my '07 last week. Left mirror got scratched and the left sidecase got some light scratches but the engine cover and left side fairing were COMPLETELY fine!

I don't know about bikes, but Yamaha uses Sherwin Williams paint on the PWCs - you might inquire there for an original color. The Service Manual sometimes gives the code too.
