I figured everyone would take the post the wrong way but when you've been driving/riding the same ol', same ol' for 30+ yrs they kinda lose their excitement. Tack on the construction, tourists and sprawl and you can imagine the boredom...

I think I understood what you were saying. I live in the middle of some pretty good riding, but I get bored riding the same or similar roads. That's one reason I attend all of the FJR rallies I can get to. Another reason is that I always enjoy spending some social time with other FJR riders. I also enjoy visiting other parts of the country on my own or with a friend or two.

I accept your challenge - I will continue to return to your great state and ride every twisty mountain road I can find until I'm sick of them.
Should only take me another 10-15 years.

Then there's eastern TN. And North Georgia. And western VA, and West Virginia...
life is a ***** - then you find more and more good roads to ride. While in Maggie Valley I talked with a group of cruiser riders who had come to the area and had a friend who was a local take them on the GOOD LOCAL roads and not just the well known ones.

THAT, is where the really good riding is. Just like it is here in the Ozarks in Arkansas and southern Missouri.

Indeed you do! I was very near you in July- rode Rt 30 on-route from Harrisburg, PA to Lake George, NY. I'm not big on rallies but a couple select friends and I don't mind traveling just to travel. Next weekend is Outer Banks, NC...

Just happen to see the post on Maggie Valley...suppose to leave this Thursday to ride down with 6 guys for 4 days.I had to cancel a ride this weekend with a group from CFO Wheaton, O'face and a few others, because of work.

Now had to just cancel the reservations at Maggie Inn......dam water pipe is leaking in one of my walls (minor) but the FJR's gods are just not with me. The honey do list and work list is just to large. Sounds like this Maggie Valley would have been a hell of a trip also. Guess there's always next year.

Meh. I hate to say this but as reasonably local folks we've grown weary of the area. It's become too crowded and too commercial when compared to years past. I know it sounds pompous and I don't mean it to, but after you've ridden them a few times the excitement is gone. We long for sights and rides other than the same ol', same ol' and find ourselves traveling further and farther to scratch the itch. But folks who've been there, and understandably excitedly so, from other parts of the country and looked at a map can also understand there's only so many roads to be ridden to get from point A to B, even when going the long way 'round, particularly if you want to go NW-SE.
I'm sincerely happy for all those who came to our fine state and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, we're glad to host you. But from the other side of the road it ain't all that. Sometimes the mindless, relaxed cruising in the flat/sand lands of the eastern parts of the state is so, so nice. We even have a few hills out that way. Unlike Delaware.
I agree, it's fun to check out different areas of the country but are you serious? Within my dayride reach from Lenoir there's 30,000+ sq miles of mountain roads and scenery to explore. I couldn't ride and see it all in a lifetime. The "we" you reference as being bored with it all sure doesn't include anyone I know around here.
+1 and when you think you found all the good roads there are to ride, ride with Lee he's made it his retired lifes ambition to cover all 30,000 sq mi. and I will go on the record as saying he will do his dandiest to make sure you wont get bored might even have fun.
