FJRocket and others,

I am leaving Indy Thursday night (2-up) and planning to do highway to Lexington.

Friday, I have a route laid out that is twisty sideroads to Knoxville.

(completely negotiable, I can send to anyone interested)

Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights will be in Townsend.

Ride home highway Monday. (Monday will be a long day)

It would be great if we could gather IN, OH, KY, WI, MI riders Friday morning in Lexington.

I think we could leave late morning from Lexington for people that want to ride to Lexington early Friday. (10 or 11 am?)

Here is a where I will stay Thursday night.

It is as good of a meeting point as any.

FOUR POINTS BY SHERATON LEXINGTON

1938 STANTON WAY, LEXINGTON, KY 40511

If anyone wants to join from Lexington to Townsend, please send me an email.

Silver, you might want to stealth your email address. Unless you have a REAL good spam filter.

I am working until about 5 on Thurs, then heading south from TH. I'm a good 90 minutes from Indy.

I was actually contemplating a similar trip, although there are some roads south of LOUISVILLE that can go "the back way" all the way to Maryville then Townsend.

Essentially 150 out of Louisville, down to Stanford, then 27 to Wartburg, then 62 (knoxville highway) through Oliver Springs, then 162 to 115, then 73 to Townsend.

Most of this is probably what you were thinking, but out the south side of LEX instead of LOU? That's cool, too. More ground covered on the slab, more time to spend on the little roads. Just thought through LOU would be much more "remote", and very little backtrack. Not sure that's a good thing, though.

What route did you have in mind from LEX? 27 all the way down?

Looks like the Sheraton is $90 a night. There's a Red Roof Inn down on 27 that's only $35 and 13.3% tax. I ain't picky. Maybe hook up with you down the road a spell? I'll be getting there late enough that I don't need anything special. I already made rez. But if you'uns wanna make other plans, lemme know. I'd like to hook up if I can.

Funny, online through GOOGLE MAP the RRI price was $10 higher than googling and going direct to RRI's site. Couple clicks saved $10. Am I cheap or what?

Any Canadian beer orders ?

Any records for the amount of beer carried on an FJR? :D

Better bring enough with you because I hear this is a dry town!
Really? Well, in that case I've decided to pack a bottle instead of the coffee maker that I was originally planning on bringing.

Hey Virginia people, has anyone tacked down their route, yet? Also, when are ya'll planning on heading out?

I really want to catch up with some people that are headed down. At this point I am not sure what my traveling companion is up to (ridgerunner).

Joe Prentiss has decided to leave Hampton Roads on Thursday evening & spending the night enroute so I won't be riding with him & his wife Brenda.

I, on the other hand have made some preliminary plans which will include Shady Valley. I'm hoping to leave on Thursday morning & spend the night enroute. If I do this I am thinking of heading down into Shady Valley via Rte 131 off of 58. I'm thinking that I'm going to ride down 421 towards Boone, jump back up onto the BRP south of the closure & ride it all the way into Cherokee.

If I leave Friday I will alter that plan to have super slabs in my route to expedite my trip.

Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Heidi

I was afraid of this... I won't be finished with our cabin by the time EOM rolls around, so I won't be going. :angry03: :angry03: :angry03: I was really looking forward to this too.

This means my room (non-smoking) at the Tally Ho will be available. PM me and post a message in this thread saying you did and maybe we could do a conference call with Tally Ho to change the room from me to whomever.

Also, Jennifer Davie with Yamaha returned my Email today regarding door prizes. She needs an address to ship some "items" to. Would they go to Tally Ho and they hold them, or a board member who lives close to them?

Gracias

SouthernFJR,

I hope things change and you can make it after all :erm:

I think best to ship to Tally Ho. Paul had shipped the stuff there last year with no problems.

Thanks Mr. Bill... I'll call Tally Ho to see if they'll store/hold the door prizes for a month. Unless a hundred construction savy bro's magically show up over the next month... I won't be finished. I'm doing a lot of the work myself, so it's slow going (I already have a full time job). I'd love to have a north Alabama / North Georgia ride in a few months (if I EVER finish the cabin).

SouthernFJR, I'm not sure if Huron52 is handling the package, but I called the Talley Ho today to confirm my room and see if the conference room was available Friday or Saturday (it had been booked by another group). I asked the manager about mailing a package and holding it til next month and she said no problem that they would have a storage area they could keep it in.

Hey all... if you are shipping stuff for the door prizes/raffle/giveaway/whatever-we-decide-to-do, you can send them to me if you don't think Tally Ho can manage it or don't trust them to... One of the local attendees around here (Patent) is having his wife join him in a cage and has offered to haul stuff down there for us. If you choose to go that route, just drop me a message or an email and I'll shoot you my addy. Either way is fine with me.

As it stands now I'll be running the BRP from start to finish beginng Thurs AM. If SWMBO is recovered from her surgery by then She'll be riding pillion and I'll need to stop around Grandfather Mtn. for over night arrive at the HO Friday pm. If she is not recovered enough to hang on tight by then I'll go it alone and run the whole thing in one day like I did last year  :yahoo:

Hey Toophast... I don't have any "solid" plans yet, but may join you on the BRP on the way down if you don't mind.

I'll have a better idea about the timing as we get into September... I'm "bartering" vacation time between the office and a couple of sick relatives I keep having to run do to Florida for. If I'm not coming up from Florida, I should be able to meet you at the Northern end of the BRP and just head down with you.

smthng

That would be cool. I'll be leaving from the very start of it (live in charlottesville be leaving from waynesboro) Don't know if my fiancee will be with me or not (she'll be recovering from surgery, but should be well enough by then) Prob over night around Grandfather mtn (no res. anywhere yet) Will be good to have the company. Let me know as we get closer to the time and we'll work out smthng :D
