I paid more than that for my used one but I don't need more than two I've got. Good deal and I believe mine have more than paid for themselves.

Now I have 2. The old and beat up red display and a brandie new blue display! maybe I'll buy me a new ktm 1190r to accessorize the radar detector..

I've got a blue display on my 9500ci, think the red display would read easier however?

Good price btw John, great price if it's waterproof!

So...which would be better, red or blue display?
Blue on my 9500ci is pretty much worthless (in the day anyways)... good thing for all of my LED's in the dash lid!

I've never used a RD, but probably should have over the years. But I don't have any kind of audio setup--don't listen to music when I ride, no intercom/GPS/telephone system--so I don't know if this would be of any use to me. I don't want to set up speakers in my helmet or in my ears just for the RD. So would a thing like this be of any value to me? Doubt if I could hear an alert at speed, helmet on, sans earphones, could I? Anybody's thoughts?

Mike, get one of these...https://www.legalspeeding.com/HARD.htm#.VddpgrJVhBc ...this works well for me.

Good grief Joe, that's more than the damn RD!

I just use a helmet speaker with a 3.5mm plug. $10 on Ebay shipped. When using the Autocom, no extra wire needed, but I needed something for the Bluetooth setup and that's what I ended up with.

I had an 8500, but returned it and plumped down the extra money for a 9500ix as I couldn't deal with the continual false alerts. I do like the Blue LEDs of the 9500 and the autodim feature too.

User reviews? Whatever. I have had an 8500 for over 5 years and it has definitely saved me from thousands of dollars in fines. It has probably kept me out of jail on several occasions as well.

I try to never drive without it.

Now, most of my driving is highway so I don't get many false alerts. If u drove near a city, I would get a 9500 with GPS to lessen the false alerts.

They work very well.

The one that WOOT was selling (now sold out) is the silver model. The current 8500 X50 is black and is an updated version. If you want the black one, Escort just sold them on special for $199 with either the red or blue leds. That seems to indicate that we may be at the end of life for the 8500 X50.

I have the "silver" X50 8500 . . . the thing is super-sensative and has become ridiculously annoying as it give false alerts overtime I'm near a car with driver assist traffic detection. The silver version is a bit long in the tooth . . . IMHO . . . time to upgrade.

If you take the Escort 8500 X50 out of the box and set it on your bike, you're going to be very disappointed, but that is why there is a programming mode. Mine displays the voltage meter when operating which is useful. I use the METER EXP mode (Expert Meter), which can detect multiple radar sources at the same time, identify the type and power from them.

Now to eliminate false alarms, turn off X-Band, turn on POP and LSR, and most important TURN ON TSR (traffic sensor rejection). There are thousands of traffic sensor radars out there now that transmit strong K-band signals. TSR is disabled by default on Escort detectors. To enable TSR, or to see if your detector has TSR software, simply:
1. Enter the Preferences section
2. Under "Bands" scroll to TSR and select "On".

These signals are distinct from police speed radar...just do it.

Yeah, but if it saves me one time...it'll pay for itself.
