I did mess with the calendar also. So I am glad it was just not me. I will get all of it together by sifting they the threads. I used to make a google calendar for all of out football practices and events that was able to be shared as "public". I will get on it. It will be like scouting teams, but instead it will be scouting events.

It's being researched. It seems (at least at this point) that the Calendar app may have been installed early on but broken during a forum software upgrade (no longer supported by the forum software). If so, then it's wouldn't come back. Uninstalling it completely would appear (at least to me) to be the thing to do, but then I'm not the one that has to do such things so it could be easier said than done.

--update--

The app isn't compatible with this version of the forum software. For now, to avoid more confusion, it's been disabled.

One thing to consider, perhaps the most important one, is that to have a calendar that lists all of the upcoming events (a worthy undertaking, IMO) requires one of two things:

Either a person or persons dedicated to constantly and continually maintaining and updating said calendar...

Or, an open calendar application that anyone can make entries into.

A calendar that is not updated regularly would soon be worthless. One that is polluted with trivial stuff would also.

Manually maintaining a calendar for perpetuity would not be a trivial undertaking. Ask Bungie, who took over the FJR Assisitance list. He converted that over to a user up-datable database in order to not have to constantly maintain and distribute / publish it.

Correct on both counts.

Also, a calendar (app/database) hosted by the forum and open to everyone could reasonably become another attack vector for those "things" that have been known to impact the forum response times in the past.

So, while an editable database would distribute the workload for managing it, hosting it with a link to another location would be the ideal way to "farm out" the load on the forum.

An event calendar would be nice. Something to view upcoming events by date instead of region. Lots (most?) of us ride out of the region in which we reside, so I'm surprised this hasn't been done already. Other forums I'm familiar with have their events posted on the main forum page in chronological order, so you can easily see what's happening this week and in the coming months. Seems logical to me.
