Driving home from work the other day, I see a Camry ahead of me on the four lane divided road swerving across lanes. I'm thinking "Drunk, but it's only 4:30." I get a bit closer to see a woman texting on her flip phone. I get closer to try and annoy her a bit, and she never notices. She's going fast, swerving a few feet in each direction when she types, and doesn't get it.
As she pulled up to a stoplight, I pull up alongside to the right, and as I flip up my helmet and start to yell at her, I realize that there's a child seat in the back with an infant aboard. I'm absolutely livid at this point and yell at her through closed window "GET OFF YOUR ____ING PHONE!!!!", giving her the hang up hand signal. "YOU'RE GOING TO KILL SOMEONE!" In the day-glo, I might look slightly like a cop, so it obviously startles her pretty well. Hoping that shook her up a bit.
I see this all the time, and we're going to hear more and more about this, like that train accident in So Cal.
Another pet peave: people who drive with small children and no car seats. Just saw one of those an hour ago. Certainly wish I'd seen a cop I could flag down about that.
