hi folks:

I have been "in the loop" on the site for several months and have not read any discussion of extended warranty options, other than to get one.

Anyone out there have experience with companies other than Yamaha and their YES program ?

Someone told me that there's a Western Service Company or something like that ....

thanks and meow for now

I'm not a usual taker of extended warranties--whether factory or third part. But, in this case it's an absolute no-brainer to get Yamaha's YES warranty to me. The service level and protection against risk vs. the cost ($389 from DH) are unbeatable. It seems as if Yamaha is subsizdizing the warranty cost.

That said, I wouldn't get an extended warranty from a third party. They can't subsidize it any and will probably make it more difficult to make a claim compared to the factory.

$400 on a $13,000+ bike for 4 additional years just makes so much sense to me.

When I bought Frank, an aftermarket warranty was heavily promoted to me. I passed. I'm in the biz of auto/truck repair, have been forever. Any warranty is only as good as the company offering it, and those willing to accept it. In my experience in car dealerships, I cannot begin to document how many times the warranty company tried to-

1) lowball the repair effort

2) find cause to deny

3) gone out of business

4) authorize used parts, imitation parts, or actually locate and send the parts themselves, all in an effort to minimize their costs.

5) argue cause/effect, and what the repair should entail or include

6) not be acceptable to the dealership due to slow payment/ prior experience

I would not get an aftermarket repair insurance plan (that is, after all, what they're selling you) for my lawnmower. Stick with the oe plan-at the price D&H is selling it, only a fool would do otherwise. ;)
