Well after careful consideration I decided not to take delivery on the 06 FJR from the Texarkana, TX dealership. I want more weather protection and the seat was not right for me.

You will still have to get in line; however, the bike is available. Tony, the salesperson, was great and I am sorry to inconvenience him. He is the first person I would recommend to buy from. The best I have ever dealt with. Contact Tony regarding details.

Sincerely,

Jeff Jones

Hope whatever you do wind up with works better for you Jeff... I'm pretty sure Tony will be able to sell it to another buyer...

Too bad it didn't work out -- good luck.

I'm still a waiter, and this will be my first FJR (mostly ride sport bikes, but getting older every day...) hope it'll work out -- im gonna give it a try.

I'm curious as to what was the final straw?

Just out of curiosity....has anyone EVER bought a motorcycle with a seat that was "right" for them....???....LOL I have never seen one, personally. I always assume that the stock seat is just something to sit on until you get it home and order the one you want. I appreciate Yamaha not spending any money on the stock seat as they must have known I was going to trash it anyway...LOL.

If you are in the market for a touring bike, I would recommend you have a look at the Honda GL1800/A (Goldwing).

It is an EXCELLENT all-round bike if one of your primary purposes is to tour.

Best Regards,

Shane

I agree with Shanes recomendation, I have 262K miles on a '01 with ABS. If ABS is a must as it is with me, in'06 Honda forces you to buy over $2500 in options I don't want (80watt sound system, heated seat and grips, built-in GPS) in order to get ABS. They have demonstrated to me they are puting profit ahead of safety. That is why I'm a "waiter" for an '06 FJR which will cost over $8,000 less than the '06 Wing with ABS.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It was a number of concerns that hit me all of a sudden. This happened to me with another bike about a year ago that I bought and sold a month later, so I was pretty conservative this time. The seat is wide in the front. I can get my feet flat, but barely. Its the best stock seat I have ever sat on, but there is no room for my Airhawk. It bothered my thighs a bit.

Also the wind turbulence/airstream was much more than I anticipated. I like to ride with my visor up and it didnt work for me.

This bike may be available below MSRP so contact:

If your interested.

Yeah, somebody go grab that sucker!  It's worth the drive to Texarkana to go to Tony's.
I'm kinda hoping Tony uses this bike to pull forward all the deliveries by one bike. Of course, I might be a little bit biased. I know all the April bikes have arrived in Texarkana, and I'm #1 in May...

I bought my bike from Tony, and I have nothing but good things to say about the way he handles his business and dealerships. He also has much lower prices on them than anyone else and is a real straight forward and honest guy to deal with. I would buy another bike from him in a minute, and I don't say that often about motorcycle dealerships.

...well, since you asked Jest., the seat on my ole trusty `96 st1100 is about the most comfortable perch I`ve ever had on a bike...and for many hours at a time! It pisses me off that up here in Canuckleland you can spend 20 grand on a bike and the seat is a piece of ****. What the hell are the manufacturers thinking? Whlie I have improved the saddle on my `04 fjr with an airhawk and sheepskin combo, it still doesn`t come close to the Honda. I sat on a `06 st1300 the other day and at first take I gotta say: same applies there as well. I hope the `06 Yammi is much improved...why should anybody have to spend good coin on a replacement seat when really, it`s not rocket science making a comfy seat if ya know what I mean! :assasin:

Tony told me that is exactly what he planned to do. The bike I passed on will go to the next person in order. The extra bike can be ordered now and picked up in May.
