I have a nice carrier that holds a 1 gal jerry can on the rear bracket but I am concerned about venting. I am looking for sugestions on ways to prevent the can from building up pressure in the heat and rough roads. I was thinking of some sort of check valve or looped hose. Any ideas?

You will need to vent it. I would suggest a vent hose. You may loose some fuel if you fill it too much... it will take a little thinking but shouldn't be hard.
