I feel it's okay to post this here.

Please keep this information among us for now, until we know more and can say for sure.

Wayne and Annette need our prayers. They went down yesterday near Burkes Gardens VA on Hwy-61.

Here's the description of their injuries/condition from Jim Meadows' report:

Got a call last night from Red Diver that Wayne and Annettte crashed on Rt 61 into Burke's Garden sometime yesterday. Originally transported to Bluefield and the transferred to Roanoke.
Called the nurse this morning and she tells me they are both "fixable." Wayne is in ICU and Annette is on another floor. According to Charlie (Red Diver), Wayne has a ruptured spleen, broken ribs, cracked or broken vertebrae...nonload bearing and not sure of the rest. Annette has a severe break to her wrist, broken ribs, a puncture wound the location of which was not clear to me. The nurse said that Wayne was in pain, is stable for now and that he would meet doctors this morning relative to surgery; and the Annette is in the better shape of the two and is doing OK.

Patient information at the Roanoke hospital is 540-981-7000. I plan to go see them as soon as the duty nurse thinks it is best and will let y'all know more as soon as I can.

I just spoke with a relative of theirs who is caring for their kid. She said apparently Wayne's front tire went flat or was flat and they ran off an embankment. Fortunately they had made a purchase of full riding gear for Annette and she was ATGATT at the time of the accident.

Reportedly Wayne let go of the bike to allow it to go down the embankment and Annette held onto him. That's what saved their lives.

We are all depending on Jim at this point for further updates.

Changing my oil today so if I'm needed, I can head back safely. Not good news... not good at all.

I did put a short reply to the "home" thread about it. No details added... but stated that it did happen. If I remember correctly 61 is pretty much high speed sweepers. Betting that they were cruising.

Prayers to them right now.

Heidi

I left my cell number with his relatives and told her to please let me know if there is any way we can help. I stressed that myself and possibly others can make a trip to wherever for assistance.

The relatives are expecting to hear more from Annette later today.

Holy **** I just saw this. I feel sick right now. Hang in there brother!!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do, I will be there in no time.

This is not the type of thing I like waking up and reading about. Not good at all. Shasta & I's prayers are sent that way. If there is anything we may possibly do to help, let us know.

Oh, no. No, no, no.

Jason just called me. We're here for whatever is needed.

I spoke with Annette by phone a few minutes ago. She was worn down from the days events like all the phone calls and well wishing. She was headed to MRI for her wrist and then to sleep. She said that Wayne is doing as well as can be expected.

She asked that I wait until to tomorrow to come over, so will let y'all know more when I can.

Going to the Brier Inn this evening to get some of their belongings that Charlie (Red Diver) packed up and left behind the front desk. He returned to L'burg after the accident and then to Roanoke to deliver some personal items, cell phones, wallets and such before leaving for Savannah. He will likely post up something about the crash when he gets home.

Haven't even asked about the bike; not that it makes a damn right now. If it seems appropriate, I will ask Wayne what he wants to do about it if I get to see him tomorrow evening.

Excuse me now, I feel a primal scream coming on and had better go outside. I'm thinking it may just be time for all of us to step back and take a long look at why and how we ride.

All I can say is that Wayne and Annette will be in our families prayers! It is obviously not their time to leave us and as Jim mentioned, this might just be one of those signs we are left to ponder from our maker.

God bless Wayne and Annette and God bless us all. Everyone take care and count your blessings every day.

Jay and Sharon.

Late finding this after catching up at work.

If anything is needed let me know. I can't shoot back up to WV, but I can send cash.

Everyone,

Thank you so much for the support during our time of need. It is this aspect of motorcycling that will keep me along. I can not even begin to know how i will ever begin to repay or pay it forward for all your help. I just can not say it enough, thank you. You guys are the best set of riding partners anyone could ever ask for. I am truely humbled.

Now, where are we riding to next year? That is the dominated topic of conversation between the wife and I right now; amazingly enough, she can not wait to get back on the bike, can not wait to see all of you again. I am truely blessed in having this woman as not only my wife, but my best friend, my soul mate. That, followed by the friendships we have here, leave no other option but for me to get better, to fight for every step, through what ever level of discomfort my body can dial up.

thank you.

Wayne
