Sheesh, someone parts our an 04 and I am watching. Everything looks good, no bids on the items I need.

In the last minute I get outbid on everything. These fools are paying $5-10 dollars less than the parts cost new........ well new from U-motors. If they will pay 130 for a headlight assy with broken tabs, they can have it!

Made me realize how valuable having U-motors at our service is.

Now it's off to the parts catalog to make a new list of everything I need!

It's called "sniping". Legitimate and effective, anyone who bids early is bidding against himself. And I agree, it's amazing what people will pay for stuff on EBay sometimes, either ignorance or frenzy fuels it, good for the seller, bad for someone looking for a deal. Patience, however, is almost always rewarded. I have gotten some extraordinary deals there.

Keith,Let eSnipe be your friend! Like Rad said, bidding early just alerts other people that your in the game.

When ever i work ebay, I only bid at the very last second of the auction. I wait until there is 30 seconds left. I decide what I'm willing to pay for the part, and put that in as my max bid. If someone else wants it worse than me, let them have it. Don't get drawn into the bidding war excitement, and pay too much for stuff either

People have also been know to bump their own auctions, with an alternate account. So watch for stuff like that. People bidding on stuff with zero feedback is what I look for

Welp............I had no choice as no one was apparently interested in my shield here.......so I posted it there

Dont expect to get crap for it, but at least it's better off on someone elses bike, than sitting in my shop collecting dust instead of bugs

The issue he brings up is a good one though. Regardless of being sniped or using a snipe service yourself, who the hell pays $5 less than retail for a broken part???

Bidnapper is my friend. So is University motors. Stupid is as stupid does.
+Fo Gunnyizille...

Ebay it what it is, a free market filled with people that will never cease to amaze you.

Rewards are reapped by patient sellers and buyers, or so it seems.

One mans junk is....

It seems like you can only get a deal if no one else is bidding on a part. For instance, I got a 05 upper left fairing with very minor scratches for 9.99 + shipping. Cause I was the only one that bid.

It looks great on my silver 04. :D

Yeah, I have found myself venturing out there and I take shipping into consideration and then figure what it might cost me if i find it local, then that is my bid... I only bid on things i want, things i need unfortantely are somehow out of my price range....;(

I am constantly amazed what people will pay on ebay for some of the stuff I had listed. Ebay has its drawbacks but I could never have sold some of this stuff at a garage sale for 1/10th of what I got on Ebay for it. I once sold an Ultegra crank from a road bike that had close to 10k miles on it. I stated that in my ad as well...Dang thing sold for only $10 less than the NEW one I had purchased the week before!

As a buyer you can "occassionally" find stuff cheaper than elsewhere...if you have a specific model number and can froogle it, that is your friend.

I have picked us some good stuff at a reasonable price on ebay as well. I did discover that when I bid early it seemed to be knocked off on a regular basis. I think ebay could do a better job of policing people who have their friends purposely bump up the price but that is probably next to impossible.

I think the frequency of shill bidding occurring is highly exaggerated, the bidder always runs the risk of being the last bidder, and the seller having to relist, with the added time and expense.

Auctions thrive on type A personalities and not just ebay. The item becomes a competitive prize to be owned at any cost. That being said, only fools the inexperienced bid prior to the last minute of an auction.
